Self insemination - Any success stories?!

Hi everyone,

I have NC'd for this to save our blushes!
DH and I have just had our first round of IVF which was sadly unsuccessful after an early miscarriage.
We have 2 frozen embryos but we would like to TTC naturally for the next 6 month's first in the hope the IVF hormones might help boost our chances.
DH has always struggled to ejaculate inside me when DTD. Therefore we have decided to try self insemination in the hope it will take away some of the stress.

I would love to hear any success stories.

Also which insemination kit did you buy?

Has anyone tried a soft cup / Ferti Lily conception cup after inserting the syringe to help things along?

Ah I've come to announce that I think my period has just started, very light pink but quite a lot and bad back ache and cramps. I'm only 12dpo 😔 I usually get to 14 and sometimes even 16dpo without it.

@AdriannaP I normally never try to comment with my eyes but I think I do see a line. I’d give it a few days and check. Although I think I’m the queen in this thread of patience for testing late lol! Due to some not niceness in sept I’d definitely say give it a few days to test if you can and until then relax 😊 I will keep everything crossed for you!

@MrsKin90 I’m sorry to see period might be here. Sorry to swear but they can all piss off, every period on this thread just piss off.

I’m now unsure when I ovulated as sticks vs mucus differed. We did four inseminations so we’ll see. We popped out twice to eat and went on walks over the last two days as my husband knew I needed time out of cat caring duties. Mentally did me well but of course I’m told by him you can’t really have wine can you? (I’m 2ww I guess and had ONE glass since July) while he sits having drinks 🙄 I’m really crabby with life and everything so I think my period is coming 😂

I’m laughing about vaginal temping and being on fire. When I’m cold in bed I always warm my hands ‘between me down there’ (ru Paul reference 😂) I’m sat here cackling like muttley hehe!

@MrsKin90 I'm sorry AF got you. 11 days is not bad for luteal phase, though, don't worry about it!

@Oilyoilyoilgob Oh my God, I do the same with my hands "between me down there", I've been doing it since I was a child and I got told off so many times by my Mum when she was tucking me in! My temp was more normal today, down to 36.59 which is not bad for vaginal pre-O I suppose.

@eloiseislost me too, me too! I’m really proper cackling like a witch here hehe! Either that or hands behind me on my bum with my hands down my trousers-do it so much my husband does it now too! It is nice and warm though, and comforting 🤣

Glad the temp seems ok, I still aren’t temping. Did sticks randomly on what I think was cd 18 and it showed as high but I think I’ll have my head on for it more next month.

@MrsKin90 so sorry to hear about your AF. Big hug.

I tested at 4am (I can’t sleep atm and keep waking up every 3-4 hours), so not sure if that counts as FMU. I have a very thin line on a blue Sainsburys test. It could be an evap tbh. Oh this is nerve wrecking. Still no AF or spotting, and some symptoms (I think). Guess will have to get a FRER later and test again in 2 days.

@AdriannaP I see the line but it does look a bit like an indent due to being thin and off-centre. I think you're right, a FRER is a better option, blue dye tests are very temperamental! Best of luck!

I know it does look like an evap. 😔 It’s off centre as I took the test apart. Also to add I can never take a test with FMU as I get up several times a night to wee.
AF is 4 days late now, I do have pregnancy symptoms (but also take progesterone), now can I please just have a BFP 😫

@AdriannaP I’d definitely get some more tests but if you can maybe wait a couple of days at least? It’ll hopefully give you a stronger line 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻The longer you leave it the better for squinters! Oh I’m really hoping it’s positive for you ☺️

I can definitely see a line but like I said, I never normally comment on lines to not give false hopes. But there is a vertical line there.

I’d get some frer tests and like I said I’d wait (I never ever test in my tww and for the September crapness waited until I was late, with symptoms a week before that!) so if possible could you say to yourself you’ll test Wednesday morning?
If (fingers crossed!) you are pregnant even those couple of days will hopefully give a lovely strong reading ☺️ Xx

@Oilyoilyoilgob I know! I need to start another medication as soon as I know and that’s why I am nervous. I had two MC and really want a little bean to stick now!!

My AF is usually like clockwork so that gives me hope but the progesterone could derail everything of course.

CD7 today, my temp has gone up again at 36.87, womb on fire!! 🔥
My CB digital decided not to work today but I have ordered One Step strips and I'll just use them for this cycle, probably start testing every afternoon from today onwards.
It occurred to me that If I don't get pregnant this month, AF will visit on my birthday… So I'll either have the worst or the best birthday ever, remains to be seen! 🤞🏼

I went to Tesco this morning - they didn’t have Frers. I bought Tesco own brand and clearblue. I have a faint line on both.

For now, I am refusing to believe that 4 different brands can give me evaps, and will live with the small hope that this one might stick!

@AdriannaP It would be unlikely that you're getting evaps and indents on all tests, it looks like you got your BFP! 🥳 You could try a digital test (CB or Tesco) for extra peace of mind.

@eloiseislost I need a testing break!! No more testing for 2-3 days. Or obsessive googling about evaps!!

@MrsKin90 sorry to hear your period has arrived and that it's early this month. Are you sure it can't be implantation bleed? (again, don't want to give false hope!)

We currently have issues with our boiler, the house is either the North Pole or Dante's Hell -there's no in between! I know vaginal temps are not supposed to be affected as much by the temperature of the room, but this morning I woke up feeling sweaty and when I got out of bed and into the bathroom, I was freezing! 😩

@eloiseislost that’s rubbish re your boiler, I hope it gets sorted soon. I didn’t know about vaginal temping, it’s all so interesting. I’ve said it before on here but I honestly wish there was better education from school onwards about all of this so all women can be in the know. Until then enjoy warming your hands between me down there 😅

We have to take our other cat to the vets, after limping a month ago, she’s now struggling to jump up-even onto a chair or bed. They’re both old ladies so I know things happen but I’ve had them 12.5 years. They’re literally my babies and I’m really stressed.
I’ve huge spots coming and I’m crabby so I’m certain I’ll be having me period. Husband is telling me off for not sleeping and stressing but unfortunately I cannot switch my brain and anxiety off.
I’ve not even thought that I could possibly be pregnant from syringing. It makes me feel bad but I just do not have the headspace right now to be adding more worry on.
Anyway I hate the sight of everything and can’t stand hearing my husband breathe or eat (😳) so certain period is coming!
