Self insemination - Any success stories?!

Hi everyone,

I have NC'd for this to save our blushes!
DH and I have just had our first round of IVF which was sadly unsuccessful after an early miscarriage.
We have 2 frozen embryos but we would like to TTC naturally for the next 6 month's first in the hope the IVF hormones might help boost our chances.
DH has always struggled to ejaculate inside me when DTD. Therefore we have decided to try self insemination in the hope it will take away some of the stress.

I would love to hear any success stories.

Also which insemination kit did you buy?

Has anyone tried a soft cup / Ferti Lily conception cup after inserting the syringe to help things along?

Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone! I won’t do a gazillion tags so firstly for those still waiting for AF good luck she doesn’t come 😁

For those who have their af tell her to feck off sometime soon lol!

I had to take my lovely girl to have her lump removed and I’ve had a fair few days of stress and no sleep. Had a panic attack today, just felt everything is building up. So tonight I will be downstairs with my cat while husband and other cat upstairs. I’m hoping we all catch up on much needed sleep!

Got ewcm yesterday even though I think I ovulated last week but tbh I don’t care this month as I lost my mojo. I’ll have my head on better next month I think. My husband is wondering what’s wrong and I’ve told him a few times my headspace is filled up. So weirdly, everything else going on has taken the worry about conceiving away.

Wishing you all stress free periods and future baby dust ✨ xx

Last evening I checked side effects from the progesterone I am taking now (first cycle). And very common side effects are: breast pain, hot flushes, tiredness, night sweat, headache.
So I think I might have interpreted my side effects as pregnancy symptoms 😣😢😢
As I have all the above but also 3 BFN. I am still only 12 DPO so not all is lost yet.

primrosechill · 22/10/2020 07:28

Hi everyone - just wanted to say hello! For those of you in tww good luck! @AdriannaP like you said, it’s not over until AF shows up!

My period wrapped up yesterday. Think we’re going to get on with insemination asap - my cycles have been shorter the last few months so I want to “get in there” quickly in case I ovulate earlier than I thought (i’m away from home atm and have no strips so have to go by symptoms only). @MrsKin90 thanks for tecommending the supplements you’re taking - I bought a pack to start taking next cycle if this one doesn’t work out.

Surely statistically we should be ready to hear some good news on here soon?! xxx

Ladies I am hoping to join this thread, awaiting my husband to do a semen analysis, I had a diagnosis of PCOS about 20 years ago and I am suffering from vaginismus so whilst waiting for the referral to a fertility clinic and then the inevitable 12-18months post CoVid for treatment to start. If semen analysis shows no obvious cause for concern, myself, the OH and a yogurt pot would like to join the thread. Blush

primrosechill · 22/10/2020 08:10

Haha @ComebackQueen “myself, the OH and a yogurt would like to join” really tickled me 😂 welcome! Hope the semen analysis comes back okay and as a fellow vaginismus sufferer I wish you both best of luck!!! 🤞🏼

ComebackQueen · 22/10/2020 08:21

@primrosechill

Thanks for the warm welcome, and We need a sense of humour when dealing with fertility don’t wear?

But wow a fellow vaginismus sufferer big hug, I’ve been ashamed for almost a decade now and finally feel liberated enough to admit I have an issue and own.

Thank you again and yes fingers crossed the semen analysis is ok.

AdriannaP · 22/10/2020 08:53

Welcome @ComebackQueen!

Lori23TTC · 22/10/2020 09:14

@eloiseislost ahh they are so perfect! I did have a cat a few years ago but he passed away and I’m desperate now for another... I’m not ashamed to say I would treat my cat like a baby I adore cat’s!
@AdriannaP I know it’s hard but try and wait... I was like that at the start but now I don’t test until my AF is due... unless I’m planning on going out and want to drink or something I sometimes test but I tend to wait now as I can’t take it any more BFN!

I’m not sure if we have done enough this month caught completely off guard being 4 days early. What do you girls think I’ll send a pic x

Self insemination - Any success stories?!
Oilyoilyoilgob · 22/10/2020 13:39

A yoghurt pot I love it 😂

Yes statistically I’m hoping someone says they have a positive and it sticks. I won’t tag the person but there was one beginning of this month and they’ve not been back so just a shout out that I really hope things are ok for that couple 🤞🏻

I’m sat on the sofa nursing my poor fur baby, who has been so brave. I’m going to do some mindfulness today to try and lower stress as it’s at an all time high.
I’m also going to start reading proper paper books as another relaxation method.

Hope everyone is well 💚 xx

eloiseislost · 22/10/2020 14:13

@ComebackQueen Welcome! Giggling at the yoghurt pot!!

@Lori23TTC It looks like you ovulated on Day 13, so you inseminated at O-2, which is not bad at all. There is a good chance that the fertile CM has kept the sperm alive and well to meet the egg later. Best of luck!!

@Oilyoilyoilgob One of the darkest moments of last year was when our cat was very unwell. DH and I took turns sleeping because he was so bad, it could go either way. It's perfectly normal to feel that life is too much at the moment. It sounds like you have a plan to recover and that's the first and most important step! I hope you find your strength soon. Thanks

CD3 for me today, AF has been kind this month, I think the Seven Seas vitamins have really made a difference for me. I can't remember the last time I had a "normal" period, i.e.: no excruciating pain, no huge clots. Even though I'm sad that I'm not pregnant, I also kind of feel that my body is functioning better. So fingers crossed I'm right!

Oilyoilyoilgob · 22/10/2020 15:38

Aww @eloiseislost it’s horrible isn’t it? She had a lump removed jan which was cancerous 😞 but she’s so well you’d never know-it’s a very rare cancer in cats. I did three weeks nursing and I’ll do the same again. I’m actually slept really well downstairs-no moving husband next to me 😄

I’m really glad your fur baby pulled through and I’m delighted to hear you’ve had a kinder period this month rather than pain and clots 😊

@primrosechill good luck for the next cycle xx

ComebackQueen · 22/10/2020 17:39

@AdriannaP
Thank you for the welcome

I’ve booked marked this to ensure I can read the entire thread over the weekend!

Lori23TTC · 22/10/2020 17:52

@ComebackQueen welcome to you and your yoghurt pot 🤣

@Oilyoilyoilgob I hope you manage to keep stress levels down it’s horrid feeling like that! Aww I hope your fur baby feels better soon ❤️

@eloiseislost thanks I thought it might have been 13 or 14 bit annoying as we normally do it everyday for 6 days up to ovulation and I feel like I’ve wasted this month but it’s good it’s earlier as I hate having long cycles and I’m hoping this is the start of a shorter cycle!

Hope everyone is well at least it’s Friday tomorrow ! X

DinkBoo · 22/10/2020 22:27

@MrsKin90 Hey! Thanks for the wondering Grin I got lost trying to keep up with the thread and life Blush

I hope everyone is doing well!

We didn't manage to try inseminating this month, as predicted DH was too tired and stressed during FW. We only dtd twice so not holding out much hope for this month.

But on the plus side I discovered that dtd really helps ovulation pain Grin and that DH needs reminding of how short FW is week Grin

MrsKin90 · 23/10/2020 08:46

@ComebackQueen welcome!! 😊 It's lovely to have you and your sense of humour here!

@DinkBoo sometimes husband's do need a reminder of how important timing is! Hopefully this month works out for you anyway but if not you'll be more prepared for next month! 😊

I'm excited to see how things progress for everyone in their new cycles or in their tww already!!
I am 10dpo today. I made the decision yesterday to apply for a promotion/higher up job in same organisation. I'm hoping I get it and sods law kicks in and I get a bfp as well and have a dilemma about if to take it or not 😂 🤞🤞 AF due Wednesday. I'm actually going to have to test early on Monday as I'm meant to be giving blood on Tuesday.
Oh AND, I had my first ever bfp dream 😱😱 surely that's a sign (of how desperate I feel)? It was a huge test with five control lines and a bright bfp line at the top that was positively glowing 😂

AdriannaP · 23/10/2020 09:29

@MrsKin90 good luck (for promotion and BFP of course). I am also pushing for a promotion early next year, I don’t care if I am pregnant by then or not. I can do the role and a bit of mat leave is nothing in the grand scheme of things!

I have been too scared to test as I found so many forums posts saying that progesterone causes side effects similar to pregnancy symptoms. So I don’t want to get my hopes up again.
Waiting a few more days (and have run out of tests!!) I am now 13 DPO and day 32 of cycle (usually have 28 day cycles), but ovulated late.

MrsKin90 · 23/10/2020 09:48

Thank you 😊 it'll be nice to have something else to think about other than babies. I hope you get your promotion too! I agree pregnancy shouldn't impact on new jobs. I think I'd be torn about leaving the lovely work family I have and being pregnant around brand new people I don't know. I need to move on but struggle with leaving the high level supportive environment I have right now! But I can't stay there forever.

I hope your symptoms are related to a bfp, that would be amazing! I'm sorry they could be because of progesterone though, how frustrating for you! I'll be hoping for you and crossing everything.

DinkBoo · 23/10/2020 10:04

Good Luck on both counts @MrsKin90

@eloiseislost interesting to hear you experience with Sevem Seas. I also found it helped make my periods lighter and less painful, but it also seemed to take my cycle from 28 days to spotting from 23 and made me itch and have loads of disappointing progesterone symptoms that got my hopes up.

I hope you continue to only have the benefits from it. I've switched to folic acid only now and am glad to no longer spend 2 weeks a month feeling awful.

I'm now pretty sure I'm out this month.
Had some spotting and pinching 7 dpo then passed a teeny tiny clot. 9 dpo and a little spotting again, but also a little crampy.

eloiseislost · 23/10/2020 10:10

@DinkBoo My cycles have gotten shorter as well since starting Seven Seas, 24 and 25 days so far, but they were not much longer before to be fair, they were ranging between 25-28. I can't say whether they increased my progesterone-related symptoms because since I started trying, I've been symptom spotting during the 2WW so some of it will be in my head!

9DPO is a still early, how long is your luteal phase?

DinkBoo · 23/10/2020 10:12

And good luck to you too @AdriannaP

It is a very particular form of torture that progesterone symptoms are identical to early pregnancy. Fingers crossed for a bfp cause Grin

MrsKin90 · 23/10/2020 10:17

Oh that's interesting I really love seven seas TTC tablets. They make my LP longer, but I haven't had any other side effects from them and they haven't made a difference to my cycle length as until this cycle it was still all over the place! I suppose everyone reacts differently to these things!

DinkBoo · 23/10/2020 10:24

@eloiseislost I spent a long time wondering whether it was all in my head, and trying to decide if the other symptoms were a good trade off for suddenly having a lot of unused cocodamol Hmm

This month is the first in many where I haven't felt pregnant in the 2ww and I have to admit it's quite a nice break. My only symptoms have been stabby boobs rather than achey.

I'm pretty sure I ovulated on cd 14 (and dtd same day and 2 days before), and normally have a 26 or 28 day cycle.

Everything has become so much more confusing since starting ttc Hmm I used to have pretty miserable periods, but at least the whole month was predictable.

Lori23TTC · 23/10/2020 16:50

I haven’t tried the seven seas ones I use the boots own trying for a baby but I don’t know how good they really are. I might just swap to just folic acid too as I’ve been taken them a year and not pregnant yet 🤷‍♀️ Xx

Oilyoilyoilgob · 23/10/2020 18:18

I’m taking the pregnacare trying to conceive ones, it says on the pack you can carry on taking them till they run out if you get pregnant.
Then I have the pregnacare pregnancy ones that I bought before the crapness happened 😔

At least they’re also like a multivit and have a good amount of vit d in now we’re getting to autumn/winter.

Took my little fur baby for a post op check and get was really pleased, just have to wait for the test results on the lump. But I’m trying to take my husband’s mantra of ‘take each day at a time’ and it’s helping, just in general tbh.

Hope everyone has a nice Friday night and weekend planned, be it chilled or busy 💖

Oilyoilyoilgob · 23/10/2020 18:19

The VET not the get 😄 she’s not a get at all she’s lovely, I want the vet to take care of me and my life 😂
