Periods getting lighter

Came off the coil in June and periods went back to normal for me about 6 weeks after. Mine are always 5 days long and medium flow for the first 3 days then light for the last 2. Since this I’ve noticed each period I get is getting lighter. One just now was basically only 1 day of a proper flow and then 2 of really light. What is happening? Anyone else experienced this? Getting quite worried about it and if it will affect me getting pregnant. We’ve been TTC since I came off the coil and nothing yet.

Forgot to add, I’m only 28 so hoping not early menopause as I’ve not had any other symptoms.

No advice but watching with interest as mine have gone from 5 day to the same as you 1 to 2 days and maybe a day of spotting. I'm a similar age to you, too.

@Darell04 have you had the coil at any point as well? I’ve got a drs appointment this week so hoping they may be able to give me some answers but thought I’d ask in here as well.

I didn't have the coil but they changed soon after I stopped the depo injection. It actually took nearly 2 years for my periods to come back - god knows what these contraceptives actually do to our bodies!

@Darell04 oh wow, they never tell you these things at the time, it’s so annoying. I just want to know that everything’s ok, keep googling things and worrying myself which I know I shouldn’t do!

When I had the coil taken out to TTC my periods were a day then they went down to half a day , I was convinced I would never get pregnant. I had various tests one being my womb lining being measured and it was fine which really surprised me. Your periods sound heavy compared to what mine were.

@pumpkinpie01 Thanks for replying good to hear something positive! It does make mine sound heavy, just very different to what I’m used to.

@Darell04 just thought I’d update. Went to the dr today and he’s booked me in for bloods, pelvic exam and an ultrasound. My periods are also irregular so I think it’s partly due to that as well. He said that periods do change with age but seemed surprised at how much of a change I’ve had with mine. Feeling reassured now that I’m getting somewhere with this Smile

Thanks for the update OP! Makes me wonder if I should go and have a few tests. Fingers crossed that all is good for you and it's just a balancing out thing!

I had the exact same thing and couldn’t find anyone to talk to ! I and mine out in September last year , had a withdrawal bleed and then an awful heavy period like I always did before going on contraception. Filling pads every 20 mins, tampons etc. Awful. Had one other period that was lighter , and then a one day bleed in November . Got to December and I had nothing, was waiting for a long cycle to come - I was pregnant! My cycles got shorter and lighter and I was convinced I wouldn’t be able to conceive as I had no idea what was what! Xx
