Hi all...

This might be an odd post and I apologise if it is in the wrong section! But I really could do with some advice as I have no idea where to turn or who to ask etc.

So me and DH are "planning" (I say this loosely as I would not want to put pressure on myself) to start a family - we married in December and are due to go on honeymoon in July.

For selfish reasons, I do not want to be pregnant on honeymoon. However we ideally want to start TTC whilst we are there.

So we go in first week of July. I'm currently on the pill. When would you suggest to come off the pill? Would I need to come off and let myself have a period or two or do you just come off and see what happens? (I don't want to be on my period on honeymoon)

I'm so confused and could do with some guidance, as you have probably guessed I do not have any children so this is a completely new world to me!

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd say come off the pill and start taking folic acid ASAP, your body can take a few months to return to normal in terms of regular cycles. You'll be able to accurately predict your ovulation by July if you start now 🙂

I don't think you could know what your body will do tbh! You could come off the pill now and use condoms if you don't want to get pregnant before July but you wouldn't know when your first period would be to guarantee your cycle won't coincide with your honeymoon. I've come off the pill 3 weeks today and just started first period today.

It took 42 days for my first period after coming off contraception and then 40 for the next. It took 7 months for my periods to get back to being regular so if you want to try for a baby in July I would highly recommend coming off now but there's no guarantee you won't be on your period on your holiday.
