Hey everyone,

First cycle using opks, currently on CD 17, predicted ovulation day is tomorrow (according to my app, flo). The strongest test I've had is CD 6. Surely that can't be right? 😩

Anyone. :(

How long are your cycles usually ?
Were you taking any contraceptives ?
Any photos to compare ?

Whatagreytdoggo · 10/01/2020 01:25

@Bfree3 thanks for replying! I have irregular cycles, my last one was 118 days. But they average about 30 days usually.
I had an implant until April 2019
I have got all my tests still, I'll take photos in the morning. 😊

I recommend downloading premom and scanning them in as it gives you a good indicator, last month I started quite early CD10 and they were light then on CD21 I got positive same with CD22 and then back really like CD23 I didn't have a gradual increase.

When are you testing? Some same best am and pm, keep testing good luck :)

mimmi91 · 10/01/2020 06:56

Don't hesitate to post photos, maybe we can help you determine which strip looks darkest :)
If it helps at all, here are mine from this cycle ; you'll see that I probs ovulated on 31/01.

Thanks guys. I'll get the photos of them. 😊 and I'll take a look at that app too, thank you.

I recommend the Clearblue digital ovulation tests. They show either a blank circle ( not fertile ), flashing smiley ( high fertility ) and a static smiley ( peak fertility ) so it's much clearer.

I ovulated 3 days earlier than I expected this month and my cheap strip tests still aren't showing a super strong line.

Otherwise, an app like Femometer where you can take photos of the tests and they do intelligent recognition and can tell you if your strip test is high or peak.

Whatagreytdoggo · 10/01/2020 10:02

Also i do them with my 2nd wee of the day, usually about 12pm.

Hopefully these have worked.

I have irregular cycles too, and have just started OPKs. This month I have ovulated at day 60 randomly! First month I've used them, so I'm not sure if ovulation this late is normal for me or just a random outlier. So considering you have such long/irregular cycles you might be ovulating much later than expected

Pawsin · 10/01/2020 11:03

Also, I've found predictor apps like flo aren't good for irregular cycles, as they use patterns, which irregular cycles don't have

Whatagreytdoggo · 10/01/2020 11:16

@Pawsin Thanks! It's strange because the app was spot on for me with period dates for about 4 or 5 months. Then I skipped 3 periods and had a cycle of 118 days! So I've no idea how accurate it is right now for me..

Whatagreytdoggo · 11/01/2020 21:17

@mimmi91 can i ask which app it is you're using on your photo?

OP posts:
Mycrazylife85 · 11/01/2020 21:26

I have irregular periods. My last one was 87 days. Don't go by the apps. I have flo and ferometer but use it to log symptoms.

They cannot accurately tell you if you are ovulating especially if you have irregular periods. I have used OPKs and never had it ever predicted it correctly. Also if you have irregular periods it is likely you'll have spikes of positives and won't ovulate, then another spike. Last long cycle I had several spikes and positive OPKs but no period. Positive OPKs just show ovulation is likely to occur and your body is gearing up.

I'm currently CD21 according to Flo I'm due to ovulate next week. Today I woke up with EWCM and it's been persistent all day. Sex in the brain. (So sorry) positive OPK and I'll see if I get a temp rise tomorrow. We dtd though anyway! Lovely stuff. ☺️ It'll be my shortest cycle if it is

Whatagreytdoggo · 12/01/2020 02:46

@Mycrazylife85 Thanks for replying! Sorry if it's obvious but can i ask what the acronym is? I'm guessing cervix mucus of some description! :) how do you check your temp for ovulation? Fingers crossed for you!! 😊

ChampooPapi · 12/01/2020 13:46

I totally agree with what @Mycrazylife85 says from a fair bit of research into opks and irregular cycles. You need to just keep dtd every other day, every three days, or even every day if your cervical mucus is good. Good luck 🤞👣

Mycrazylife85 · 13/01/2020 06:44

@Whatagreytdoggo it's egg white cervical mucus. I don't have a good hunt around for it (I don't check my cervix, that's a bit much for me) but it really is just like egg whites. I bought a basal body temperature (bbt) thermometer and pop it under my tongue in the morning. Trouble is you need three hours consecutive sleep and I'm a dreadful sleeper but I managed three hours last night and my temperatures as increased suggesting ovulation has occurred. My boobs say maybe too 😂 good luck. I don't hold out much hope but it's the two week wait now ☺️😏

Hi everyone!
I’m new to this, my husband and I are TTC baby #1 and wow the 2WW is horrible.... longest time ever!

Wondering if any of you ladies could give me some advice. I have been using the CB advanced ovulation test every morning I started testing on cycle day 11 which was 5 days after my period I got negative every day and then randomly on cycle day 14 I got a peak fertility but no lead up with the high fertility hmm then cycle day 20 and 21 which is today I got high fertility which I was a bit confused with as I already got my peak fertility. This morning when I tested I also used a cheapy and a CB pink ovulation test the one with 2 fertile days both of those were negative. I haven’t really had any CM. Is it possible I didn’t ovulate? Or maybe did ovulate and it’s picking up on hormones? Early pregnancy? Fingers crossed that would be amazing. I’m going out of my mind wondering what is happening.

If anyone has had something similar would love your advice! Thank you! Sending you all lots of luck and baby dust on your TTC journeys

Whatagreytdoggo · 13/01/2020 22:12

@ChampooPapi We're currently dtd every other day just incase and hoping that's enough!

@Mycrazylife85 Ah ok that makes sense, thank you! 😊 ooh it's horrible isn't it! Hope it's good news for you!
