Apps or OPK?

Hi all

We are just starting trying and wondered if people were using apps to estimate ovulation or OPKs?

I have the Glow app but am cautious to fully trust it's predicted dates!

Any help or experiences would be great!

I used a free app called PD (period diary), that you just put your dates in and it estimates on a calender the dates you should be ovulating. Once we started actively TTC it only took 3 cycles using the dates, so for us at least it must of been accurate. I'd say its at least worth a shot!

I use an app called P.C the app looks like a book with a flower on it. I also use CB Digital OPK's. The app is handy as you can track your cycle and you don't have use as many OPK sticks to find out your high and peak fertility days. Seeing as the digital ones are expensive it's very handy!

Personally I prefer OPKs as I’ve found apps to be slightly out. Eg this month i ovulated day 12 which is earlier than than what apps have predicted. The test is also reassuring that you are actually ovulating.

Thank you ladies - I think I'm going to probably cave and buy some cheap OPKs too just to be sure!

@Nat4392 how long is your cycle? Just curious as I think my app says I'm ovulating later than I actually am but we are just starting to try so don't want to use opks just yet

ablisha · 08/01/2020 21:10

@tooimpatient2 that's what I'm worried about - it being too late. The NHS predictor says the same as my app but the clear blue predictor gives me an earlier ovulation date by about 3 days!

@ablisha I have 3 apps which all say something different and online calculators slightly different too. I'm going to start BD from CD 9 every other day right through till after the latest ovulation day so that way I will be covered in case it is earlier. But it is annoying, especially trying to figure out DPO.

Will hopefully be worth it though! I'm trying not to get too hung up on it only with this being very very early days of trying but it's hard

@ablisha it’s varied from 25-28 days since I’ve come off the pill in September. I’ve been using OPKs from about day 9, then twice daily from around day 12. Which this month was lucky because had a -ve on day 12 AM but +ve at the PM test. Then -ve Day 13 AM. I’ve ovulated at day 16 before so it’s so varied for me at the minute

My app is telling me ovulation was 3 days go... underwear is telling me it's today (TMI!)

I'm due on my period on the 20th
