IC Strips Reliability

Just a little about me first... I'm 33 and been ttc #2 for the last 7 months. I have a 13m old son and we would like a small age gap.

I'm currently 12 or 13 DPO and af is due today or tomorrow. No signs of it yet. I've been checking my cervix the last few months in the days leading up to af and it's always really low. The last 3 days it's been high (sometimes I couldn't reach it at all) and today it's high really soft. I dipped two different brands of ic strips this morning (fmu) and both bfn. My last pregnancy I got my bfp around this time with an ic, and my best friend recently got hers at just 9dpo on an ic - so I've always thought they are fairly reliable.

Has anyone had experience of having a bfn on these cheap tests but actually been pregnant and had positive on other more expensive tests?
