Help with OPKs / Tracking - 1st time TTC ♥

Hi all,
Happy new year!

I'm new here (although have been reading lots of threads re TTC/OPKs etc!), so thought I'd start my own as I'd love your help ♥

My husband and I are TTC for the first time - I'm almost 31 and had the implant removed on 18th November. I only had it for 19 months so was expecting my cycle to return to - somewhat - normal fairly quickly. I always had pretty regular 28-30 day cycles before the implant.

I started OPK tests shortly after the removal and had a positive result on 26th Nov, so naturally we did the BD (a lot!). Then AF arrived on 5th Dec for 5 days. I started testing again CD10 and haven't had a 100% positive test since - it's come close a few times (around 17th Dec / CD13 and 5th Jan / CD33) but not positive.

Can anyone help decode this?! I'm so confused! Thinking about buying a digital test and also to start temping.

Thank you! xxx

Are you using any kind of tracking app?
I currently use Femometer and it is brilliant! You can take pictures of all the tests you take and it will keep them all in cycle folders, it charts your body temperature and has been a huge help to me as this will be my first time actually ttc!

@aries19 I'd never tried femometer but just downloaded it and put in some photos of my OPKs! Brilliant! They are so hard to read this takes away so much pressure 🙌

urbansloth · 06/01/2020 18:15

@ljsc have you taken a pregnancy test? If you're late you never know! 🤞🤞

Aries19 · 06/01/2020 18:19

@urbansloth it is a really good app! It took so much pressure off

Hi there, I would also recommend paying attention to cervical mucus through the month. Checking toilet paper after you've wiped, especially after a bowel movement usually provides a good indication of what's going without an internal examination. Your CM should start to get very clear and stretchy around ovulation so you could cross reference this with your OPK results. It might also be worth taking more than one test a day. Last month I tested at 2pm on CD13 and the result was negative (still lighter than the control line). I tested at 11.15pm just before I went to bed and the result was positive. The line was as dark as the control line. I tested again at 10am the following morning and got another positive however by 5pm when I took another test it was negative. You may just be missing your surge as it can vary in length for everyone.

Hi All,

Thanks so much for your help! I've downloaded Femometer and it looks fab, thanks for the recco. Also will definitely buy a thermometer!

Have you guys ever seen two high reads in one cycle? I'm so confused about this. I'm taking 2 tests a day when there looks to be a peak coming, but still never manage to catch it. Or I'm not actually ovulating?!
