Flu delayed period or..?

I'll start by saying we're not trying to conceive and use condoms as birth control. I have two children already and feel like our family is complete- that said on a primal level (? 🙈) I find myself obsessing about the possibility of pregnancy.

I have a pretty regular cycle 28-30 days long every month. I'm currently on day CD 40 which has only ever happened when I've been pregnant.

With Christmas craziness I only realised I was late on day 36 so in the evening on the way home I picked up a Tesco own test as it was the only one available and took it once I got back with v hydrated urine - BFN.
I had thought being so late there was no way it wouldn't show up if I was pregnant so I didn't fuss about saving it for the FMU but now I've read forum posts of women not getting a positive test until 6+ weeks I feel like I should have made more of an effort as I'm second guessing the negative now.

It was in a pack of two so I'll do another on Friday morning.

If I was reading this myself I would be thinking of course you're pregnant! Except that from CD6 to CD9 I was poorly in bed with the flu, then the following week I was feeling run down although went to work etc. Cd18 I felt breathless and bubbly chest so went to the dr on day 19 and started antibiotics as I had a chest infection. After a few days I was feeling much better.

SO with all of that does it sound like it's not pregnancy but sickness that has caused my period to be so late? I worked out my body had waited until I had finished the antibiotics to ovulate by those calculations I still should have come on yesterday and there is no sign in sight I'm about to.

And if your period was delayed after sickness, how late was it? I am such a regular person that I'm not loving having no idea when to expect it.

Sorry it was so long, thank you for reading if you made it this far!

Apparently no one has had a period delayed after sickness then 🙃

But for anyone looking this up in the future I got a v faint/evap on a Tesco test yesterday - 2 weeks late. Started bonding with a baby that doesn't exist then came on today.

Having looked it up Tesco tests are renowned for giving false positives so avoid at all costs.

And to answer my question, 15 days late is how late I ended up being.

Sorry to hear AF arrived. Even if you aren’t actively TTC I think it’s maternal instinct to slightly get your hopes up when you think you may be pregnant. There are many factors that can cause an irregular or late period. Sickness being one of them so I think it’s most probable that this was the reason for AFs late arrival. FX for any future plans though! Smile

Ah thank you unicornsparklez so true, thinking logically it's best financially etc, but when you think there's a little person in there it's hard not to imagine the future with them in it.

Thanks for your reply Smile
