Hi everyone,

My wife and I are about to start our first cycle of IVF this week and I'm worrying so much about how I'm going to cope.

Up until a week or so ago I was fine and excited about everything, but now the prospect of actually going through with it is making me anxious.

I'm worried I'm going to be a crap mum, how we will cope as we don't live near our families etc

Maybe I'm being ridiculous and overthinking everything Confused

I think bouts of 'oh my gosh, what am I doing?' are pretty normal.

I definitely had them, especially when the test came back positive. Good luck!

Completely normal and you worrying means you will be a brilliant mum. Rubbish mothers don't care. Good luck.

Hi @Dannii89x – IVF is really hard on you and success rates are low, so my advice is to focus on getting through it day to day and to prepare yourself for the possibility that it won't work.

I don't want to be a harbinger of doom but I have recently completed my second failed cycle (#1=BFN; #2=CP) and I wish someone had given me a reality check at the outset because I really thought (and my clinic assured me) that IVF would work for us. Honestly I don't give much thought to what I'll be like as a mum because the possibility of actually getting and staying pg seems so remote, but if it does happen I'll feel like I deserved it after all this and will make it work regardless of circumstances.

I hope you have an easier experience of IVF and no doubt you'll be an amazing mum to a much-wanted baby x
