Ovulation test results

First time using ovulation tests and yesterday night and today's tests have had both lines dark...how many days will I get a positive test result? We have had sex every day (morning and night) since 23rd December so I'm hoping that has been enough...I'm supposed to ovulate on the 1st but it seems to be testing early...or do you test positive in the days leading up to ovulation?

We're the lines as dark or darker than the control? If so you can have a few days of peak hormone, or just a few hours. It can vary woman to woman and between cycles.
Generally it's recommended you only have sex every other day in your fertile window and on the days when you get a peak opk so that the sperm are in tip top condition and ready and waiting for the egg. Overdoing sex can actually be counterproductive!
If you are using an app then take the date expected as an estimate and go off the opks. You generally ovulate the day after your first peak test result and it should be over once your tests start going fainter.
Temping is another way of checking what's happened- you can get a dip in temp just before ovulation then a raise that stays up until AF arrives (if not pregnant) which should correlate with the opks.

@Sammyclaire22 I've used the ovulation calculator to see roughly when I'd ovulate and I'm getting several different days ranging from 27th December to 1st January but yesterday and today's tests were as dark as the control line, the days before that the line was lighter or not there. I have tender breasts today too but I've not felt any ovulation pain which I have done in previous months (not all). I will take a couple more tests to see if the line goes lighter over the next day. We have alot of sex throughout the month which is usually twice a day before we even started to ttc,so I didn't realise we wasn't to have alot round ovulation time, something to think about next month then.

I would go off the tests then and assume you have or are about to ovulate. And don't worry about having too much sex if you are new to ttc. It's just something to bear in mind if you find you've had a few cycles and nothing has come of it. Good luck!

@sammyclaire22 thanks for the info. I've done 1 this afternoon and the bottom line is way lighter today so I'm guessing I've ovulated other day. I'm still a little tender too so I'm guessing i ovulated yesterday or the day before...but I'm sure I'll find out by next month 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
