Positive pregnancy test 3-4 days after ovulation

Hi all

First time posting on here but really needing some thoughts on what's going on.

Ok so background - my partner and I have been TTC for 11 months and so far we haven't been lucky. Last month I did get my hopes up as AF was 4 days late - however she did arrive(all seemed normal). I had taken 2 pregnancy test at the time and both were negative.

This month on cd 14 I noticed some spotting which is still ongoing at present on cd 19. It is generally light (much lighter than AF) but intensity does change throughout the day. On cd 15 I got a positive for ovulation and initially thought it was ovulation bleeding. However have read this would only last 2-3 days.

Called the gp today to make an apt and he advised I take a home pregnancy test just to be sure. So I did and it said pregnant 1-2 weeks.
I'm confused as while we did on cd12 and cd14, no way could a pregnancy test showed positive 3/4 days after ovulation.

I have no pains, however due to ongoing spotting I have to think I'm miscarrying. However I still don't think the dates don't add up.

Anyone any thoughts?
(Apologies if this is all a bit muddled).

Ovulation tests can show positive in situations other than actual ovulation. Some women get positive OPKs just before their period, and lots of women seem to get them in early pregnancy.

It sounds as though your spotting on cycle day 14 may have been implantation bleeding.

Congrats!

Hi mouseclogs. thanks for you're reply. I really really hope you're right, but would implantation bleeding last 5 days?

@Geep can I just jump on and ask what your outcome was? Thanks

Unfortunately it is thought i am miscarrying. My doctor referred me for an early scan which i went to last week. As i was so early ( 3 weeks since last period) they couldnt see anything. I had bloods taken and the hcg level was low (158 i think) so was told its likely i miscarried.
Got more bloods 48 hrs later and altho these decreased (140), apparently it hasnt decreased enough to rule out an eptopic pregnancy. So i have go back in a week for more bloods.

@Geep ah so sorry to hear that! Hugs to you❤️❤️

@nt1992 thanks.

Im still confused over the dates and how i tested positive so early.

Just hoping the bleeding/spotting stops soon as this is now into the second week. Stupidly i thought being so early on id only bleed for a few days.

@Geep I'm kind of experiencing something similar I am due to ovulate today I I have took ovulation tests which are pos & I have took so many pregnancy strip tests which are also faint positive so I have no idea what's going on with me at the minute. I hope you can get back to normal soon😘

Geep · 06/01/2020 19:34

@Geep yeh I have heard that I'm just not sure as my dtd dates are a bit too close for it to be a pos preg test but I'll keep tracking to see progression thanks x

I’m sorry to hear about what happened to you. I have been trailing the net to work out what’s happening to me and your story is very similar. I hope you don’t mind me asking what happened in the end? GP and early pregnancy clinic day there is no point doing my bloods and I just have to wait two weeks and see, as though that’s easy to do!
