Hello!

Haven’t seen a thread for this so thought I would start one! Is anyone TTC following vasectomy reversal?

Hello. I'm not TTC, already pregnant, but my husband had his reversal on 31st March 2019. We weren't actively 'trying' until August as we waited for his results (end of July) before I started investing in OPKs but he had an excellent result thanks to an amazing surgeon. His sperm count came back as very high despite the vasectomy being 19 years ago! I have PCOS and have lost a lot of weight recently (over 11 stone) and this meant my PCOS symptoms pretty much disappeared and I started have a regular 27-29 cycle. I never got a static smiley face when I started OPKs on August but I think I stopped testing too early as I got my first static on day 19 of my cycle in September. We dtd a couple of times that week and on 29th Sept I got my BFP! I had no idea about my fertility due to PCOS so it was a big shock it happened so quickly. I'm sure my new healthy lifestyle helped and DH has also lost 6 stone and is very fit and healthy which I'm sure also helped his reversal stats. I'm 15+4 now!

Thanks for your message @APD1981! Happy to hear it worked for you after so many years! My partner had his reversal after 12 years in September so I guess it’s still early days for us. Waiting to find out the results of his analysis so keeping everything crossed! Congratulations on your pregnancy!

@Squishy93 good luck for your results! I still can't believe ours worked. Our results came through really quickly (test on Friday afternoon, results Monday afternoon via email) so hopefully you're not waiting too long 🤞

Tell me about it. In between DH's op and the test my dad passed away. We had to go for the test the day after his funeral. The thought of more bad news was awful and I honestly don't know what we'd have done if it had come back unsuccessful. I conceived not long after my dad died and would you believe my due date is my mum and dad's wedding anniversary. They celebrated their golden wedding 4 weeks before he died this year. Definitely feels meant to be!

Please update when you get your results (if you can). Got everything crossed for you x

@APD1981 oh no I’m sorry, that’s absolutely rotten! ☹️ It’s lovely your due on your parents anniversary, definitely sounds like it’s meant to be! Im trying not to think about If it’s unsuccessful, keeping my hopes high!

Thank you, hopefully my update will be positive! x

We are! It was a reversal after 5 years, the last sperm analysis showed he had a good sperm count and morphology, but low motility. We've spent last year only sort of ttc, figuring if it was meant to happen it would. Nothings happend, so after xmas we are going to try everything! I've read about smep, brought the preseed and stocked up on opk's, so fingers crossed 2020 brings us a baby!

Squishy93 · 23/12/2019 14:26

@PurpleEllie wishing you all the luck for 2020! 🤞

@APD1981 results came back today, it was a success! (does a happy dance) on the low side of normal but consult expects this to improve! So were happy! Have to keep telling myself it’s only been 3 months and still early days but keeping things crossed for 2020 x

@Squishy93 yippee! I'm so pleased for you! My DH took conception supplements and we took the food advice we were given and I incorporated it as much as possible into our diets. Best of luck and keep us updated! X
