Do i not ovulate?

hey, i'm a newbie! turn 30 next year and we have said that we will TTC after this. I have always had this thought in the back of my mind that I won't be able to have children (no idea why, just a general worrier i guess!) so thought i would start to get to know my body in preparation. I have been using OPK tests all this cycle from the day my AF ended and have only had the faintest lines when all the apps were saying it would be my ovulation time (cycles are like clockwork btw) I have tested every day, sometimes three times a day so i dont think it has been missed. Any ideas what this means or what to do next?

You may ovulate early or later than the app would suggest.

This may be tmi but do you get the sort of mucus (ewcm) produced for a couple of days within your cycle? That's usually a great indicator of ovulation

What cycle day are you now? Maybe you are a late ovulator? Also what time of day do you test? Apparently for some people it is only a short surge so morning and afternoon testing is recommended.

If you want to know for sure you could chart your bbt, which can confirm ovulation - I recommend a book called taking charge of your fertility if you’re interested in going down that route. Good luck Flowers

thanks for the replies! Ive been testing morning afternoon and evening just in case every day of my cycle! I did think I would get a positive as they started to get slightly darker but still not near to test line and i did get EWCM for a few days in the same window the apps suggested.

I'm on cycle day 20 today of a (usually) 31 day cycle and will continue to test.

I will start doing BBT too - thank you x

I had the same problem.... I tried not drinking water or peeing 4 hours before testing and had better results! Normally I test around noon.

Hey, I’m in a really similar situation to you and had been thinking of starting to use OPKs in advance of us trying for a baby next year as I’m not sure whether I ovulate or not!

Can I ask which OPKs you use please?

jgemss · 16/12/2019 21:15

I've been using the one step tests which i got in bulk from amazon and have been using the fertility friend app to store images of them and give a numerical value to each test. Hoping I can get to know my cycles ready for when we are ready!

@jgemss I'm reading your post and I could have written it ! I've always had that worry too and I don't know why ! I've been wondering myself if I am ovulating, it's such a mindfield ! I get the discharge as well and just assumed I ovulate but now I am questioning it, we have only been trying for a month but I really thought it would happen straight away !

Hi OP. I had exactly the same fears as you when I was thinking about trying to conceive. I didn’t want to just try, I wanted to know I was ovulating.

I got a basal thermometer and charted my temperature every day and it was actually really fascinating to see the temperature change.

Another recommendation for bbt. I did it for the first few cycles after getting the coil removed. It really made me aware of my body and what other signs it gives to the fact that I’m nearing ovulation. Now I don’t need to bother with any of it because I know the other signs. It can be a bit of a pain remembering to do it when you wake up every morning but it will be worth it.
