Hi,

I just got my amh results back and got 51.8 pmol/L I'm 31 is this ok? Doctor said normal over the phone, but I've read so much I'm confused.

There are so many different measurements out there, and also read one way can mean PCOS and one can mean low egg count. Anyone had a similar result and had a good explanation?

I was told I have good ovarian reserve but On the high side indicative of polycystic ovaries (confirmed by scan). Mine was 41. X

@jaggynettle thanks for the reply, ah how old are you? Also what type of scan? I've had an internal pelvic one and they said that was normal? Would it have been seen on that?

you can win in this TTC journey, I was worried it was going to come back low, but now it's high I'm worried it's PCOS 😫

I’m 32 not far off 33. It was during the HyCoSy consultant said I have many follicles indicative of PCO but not the syndrome. I ovulate and have regular cycles, blood tests were also negative for the syndrome. It sounds like the scan you had would have picked that up. Did you get a report? If you don’t ovulate then they’re probably put you on clomid metformin or combination but they’re usually do a further blood test first before confirming PCOS x

@jaggynettle yes I've had blood tests , day 5 and day 21, came back perfect. I had the internal pelvic ultrasound scan, and also was normal, I definitely ovulate as they could tell from the bloods and I also have been doing opks and temping for around 12 months, I can see I ovulate. I do have longish cycles though, around 35 days.

Wondering if I have what you are saying, did you get treated? Should I be worried 😫

Have you had the PCOS blood tests done? Your GP should do these to see if that’s clear . My consultant requested this in light of my high amh and scan. I have been given clomid anyway even though i ovulate - I’m hoping it will help me ovulate a little earlier in my cycle and produce more mature eggs ready to be caught by the sperm. Also, have you had your partner checked out? We have mixed infertility picture so it might not just be you. You can get pregnant with PCOS so stay positive. We’ve been trying since July 2018, it’s tough 😢 xx

@JandL2020 thanks for the reply, yes I've had the 5 day and 21 day bloods, they said the came back "perfect" , also the pelvic ultrasound also came back fine/normal. I done this AMH one last just to check my reserve so it being high is a bit of a shock! I have longish cycles around 35 days though so maybe clomid would help me.

My partner has had a SA and everything came back high except morphology which was 1% but two doctors have told me that's not an issue with the high volume and other stats.

Can't believe how hard this all is 😢

I think there are other tests for PCOS too - I had a androgen index, testosterone, sex binding globulin and insulin resistance. All negative so I just have PCO (runs in my family) but not the syndrome itself x

mynameiscalypso · 17/12/2019 21:54

I am slightly older than you and had a higher AMH - I have PCO but not PCOS. It took us three years to conceive but I don't think that was related (DH also had low morphology). We had an unsuccessful round of IVF before we conceived naturally and what my AMH meant was that I responded very well to treatment and got lots of eggs (and then embryos).

Maisy24 · 17/12/2019 22:29

@JandL2020 ah ok I assumed they tested that as the doctor said i didn't have PCOS from the bloods, but now I'm thinking I could have PCO.

@mynameiscalypso thanks for the reply, you sound similar to me, it's comforting to know you managed to finally conceive naturally! And that's good news that we could get lots of eggs from ivf.
