How long to conceive baby #2

Hey all,

I'd like to know how long it took you to conceive subsequent babies versus how long it took to conceive your first. I conceived my first on the first attempt and I'd like to have a three year gap ideally between them but am aware that these things don't always happen as planned and would rather have a two yearish gap than a four year gap. So I'm trying to work out when the best time to TTC would be.

I experienced secondary infertility (conceived straight away with my first) so depending on your age as well I would not wait as it took us four years to conceive again.

Agree with the PP - don't leave it if you know you want another. We wanted an 18 month to 2 year age gap, but 2 years into ttc, we have nothing to show for it except two miscarriages. If by some miracle we do get a pregnancy that sticks soon, there will be at least an almost 4 year age gap..

I conceived my first on the second cycle. Number 2 has now been over 2 years with 2 miscarriages this year I defo didn't expect it to take this long. Defo don't leave it too long xx

About 3 minutes. Ds1 took 2.5 years.

My first took 9 months of trying, second was on the second cycle of trying. Expected it to take much longer so I feel very lucky!

1st was a surprise - unplanned. 2nd was conceived on 2nd cycle.

I have friends that took 10 years for first and 5 years for their second.

My first two were contraceptive failure, 3 and 4 both happened straight away.

I would actually work with the minimum age gap you are happy to deal with as you have no idea whether you will have problems or end up being very fertile.

We conceived second cycle first time, third cycle second time. We were aiming for 2.5-3 year age gap and have 3 years and a few days between them

Hence I got sterilised 😂 trying to not get pregnant was military planning even with contraceptives!
