So DC is almost 3 yrs old and was a surprise baby in that we had only unprotected sex twice ever and got pregnant. So obviously no real ‘trying’ involved, no ovulation tests, no stress, symptom spotting etc fast foward to now and we have been “ trying” for baby 2 for 8 months now, which I know in the scheme of things isn’t very long BUT we stupidly thought we would have the same luck as first time. Iv been using ovulation sticks and defo am ovulating, no unusual period etc, lots of sex at right time, even the fertility gel.. any advice ?!! Or a reality check that I need to chill out and have more patience ! Anyone in a similar boat ?

Sorry can't help as I am not there yet as we just started trying for #2 but I fear we will have the same problem as #1 was a very easy one time thing. Fingers crossed we both have some luck soon!

Hi Wudgy

Thank you for this post - been looking one like this. Same with you our DS was also a lovely surprise. I have no idea how TTC can be so confusing and stressfull! Anyway! We've been TTC since March so that's about 9 months now. And I already feel like fed up! I hate using OPK so much and how DTD feels like something we "have" to. And even though I got the CB Static Smiley but we still haven't got any BFP. Does that mean I wasn't ovulating as in no egg is released? Who knows... When I was pregnant with DS1 I kind of knew second time around would be challenging. :(

I'm taking Agnus Cactus now and hoping that might help. I took Pregnacare Conception last cycle but that made AF arrive late so I stop taking it this cycle. Are you taking any vitamins/supplements?

Finger crossed we will get those lovely BFP soon! Good luck to you! Xx

Mrssendy · 13/12/2019 17:10

@V1983 hope your TTC #2 journey will be as easy as DC1! Fingers crossed! Xx

Hi there, funny enough I was going to start a thread about 'trouble conceiving baby no 2.
We have a an almost three year old and also been trying for 8 months. I thought we were lucky this month but then af arrived today. We have been dtd every other day since cd6. I think I should book an appointment to see my GP as I am over 35.
So just a quick reply to say you are not alone in this boat. Hope we all get a BFP for the new year

Wudgy · 14/12/2019 15:29

Thank you for your replies, as sad and frustrated am I that you are also going through this it does reassure me that I am not alone. I am not taking any vitamins or supplements however I will look into the Angus cactus- I’d never heard of this before. I also know for sure that I am definitely ovulating and definitely having sex at the right times but still no joy, I had an emergency section with my first so wondering if that has anything to do with it?
I may make a Gp appointment in the new year as il be 35 next birthday so if there was an underlying problem I would like to know sooner than later xx big hugs to you all !

I am glad to see this thread as I am in the same boat. First baby conceived after a year of not trying but not preventing,so like someone mentioned above,no stress with ovulation, planning etc. Been trying for number two since June which I know isn't long but it's so tough when your period comes-I can only imagine how awful that must be for people who have been trying much longer and don't have any children at all. I'm finding sex so contrived now and it's difficult to enjoy. I have started using ovulation sticks as my cycle is around 38 days so want to see when I ovulate.

I turn 34 next year so not sure whether to wait until a year of trying before going to the doctor or whether I need to go sooner?

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 15/12/2019 00:56

I'm ttc at the moment so not had any luck yet but I'm currently taking pre conception vitamins plus vitamin d.

Other things that I've seen people online swear by is the SMEP method, and/or taking 400mg of folic acid, COQ10, and DHA. The last 3 is something that has been promoted by Luisa Zissman on her blog and lots of her followers swear it works. She said she spoke to an american fertility specialist and that was what they recommended. Link to her post is here

@Wudgy about the c section, i have been wondering the same. My first was delivered vaginally but I had a planned c section for my second as he was breech. They were both conceived straight away, first cycle each time and for my second we only had unprotected sex once. Now im ttc for the third one. Its still early days as im nearing the 6th cycle but im surprised its harder this time. Im 36 now so that also could also be the reason. But I did ask myself if it had to do with the fact that I had a c section before.

Lilice · 15/12/2019 21:19

@StanleyWalkersThirdWife thank you for sharing the link. It's very interesting!

Wudgy · 15/12/2019 23:32

Thanks I had previously read that link months ago from her Instagram page and stupidily thought oh il not waste the money il be pregnant in no time! I Maybe will have another look and order them , apart from the c section the only other aspect of change to my body/lifestyle post baby one is that I now do the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet- research says it’s fine for conception but maybe I’m clutching at straws trying to give a reason when there’s maybe no reason to have. I am still about 1 stone heavier than I was when I conceived baby one so hopefully in the new year I’ll lose some of that. Hope you all had a good weekend and a great week ahead !

@Mrssendy thanks hopefully we all have some luck this month!

How is everyone going with the TWW? I am driving myself crazy with the symptom spotting... gonna be a long wait.

Onekidnoclue · 19/12/2019 07:14

I’m in the same boat. Just got another bfn. Why did I torture myself and was a fiver???
One shag and job done with dc1. Nothing after months of trying this time round. I’m older than you ladies though (39). Getting really worried (and sad). Flowers

sarahc336 · 19/12/2019 14:53

I fit right in in this post. My daughter was a huge shock so no trying at all, cut to now trying for our second, has a miscarriage at cycle 5 then just come on my period for cycle 6 Confused honestly don't understand it really. How can I have sex once at the wrong time and get pregnant and now I do it at the wrong time all the bloody time and get nothing Envy xx

HopefulHarry · 19/12/2019 17:31

It has been 9 months and nothing! We are at it like rabbits still bfn. Went to the Dr and I will be having a 21 day blood test in the new year to see whether I am ovulating or not.

Wudgy · 20/12/2019 20:17

@onekidnoclue sorry to hear about your bfn, same here today - I ordered a pile of the cheap tests from eBay so I annoy myself for days each month testing!
I may go to the GP in the new year however from the ovulation sticks I’m pretty confident I’m ovulating. Who knows what’s going on for us all, positive thoughts to you all!

Hi, I’m the same with the second. I’m 35, conceived the first one without issue (she’s just turned 2), but the second just isn’t happening. It’s frustrating as so many people seem to say that they got pregnant instantly with the second. I’m getting so worried. Also had a c section and wondering if that has had an impact. I have a doctors appointment booked for Jan.

Does anyone know if there’s a test that could show c section damage?

Onekidnoclue · 21/12/2019 23:22

I know nothing @Needallthesleep but I don’t remember coming across anything in my time looking.
I’m trying to get DH to take supplements but he’s not keen. Figured every bit helps.
I was told they wouldn’t offer any tests as I already had one. Is that just my area? What can they test for? Am so bloody clueless!

Wudgy · 26/12/2019 08:32

Hi ladies thanks for all your messages, after a bfn on the 20th on thd 23rd no AF had arrived to took another test and got a faint line, have tested several times since and line is there but not super strong so guessing it’s very early -tentatively excited though will not get hopes to high yet xx

@wudgy fx for you. 2-8 months definitely is not a struggle in ttc terms. It just takes time and you're medically normal up to around 2 years ttc.

Needallthesleep · 27/12/2019 21:17

@Wudgy amazing news, this gives me hope!
