Hi everyone, just making this thread as it seems a few of us will be trying SMEP to TTC! Adding these lovely ladies in from another thread but I hope everyone feels free to join! All welcome :)

Some stats about me:

TTC #1
27 years old, DH is 28 years old
Missed miscarriage in October 2019 at 7+2 weeks
Still in that cycle (no AF yet)
Long and irregular cycles, some anovulatory
Suspected low progesterone/hypothyroidism (I think this based on symptoms, not diagnosed yet!)

Hope we can all provide support for each other in this crazy TTC journey.

@Lucy5546 sorry I missed replying to your post about sex in the two week wait. I really think it's a good idea surly? I haven't heard of any proof it's bad, in fact some women actually get pregnant in the two week wait because they ovulated later then then thought. Ovulation tests are not always accurate, in fact they are sometimes completely off so the only way to be certain with two healthy fertile adults is lots of sex.

I have heard good things about tempting but I think some women actually miss out on a bfp that month because they are not doing it through out the month, only the 2 weeks over their 'fertile' time. Sometimes less ex but more consistent throughout the month can be better for conception, this is from a friend who is a nurse. Of course it only takes once but there no way sex is going to stop a pregnancy or implantation, if it's going to happen, it's happening!

This is why some people get their dates wrong at the 12 week scans, when they actually conceived can be far off when they thought they were fertile/ovulated. Turns out they ovulated a week late or early

*Sometime less sex but more consistently through out the month

Even if your cycle has been the same for years, any month it can be longer or shorter, it's not a hard and fast rule even if your cycle is always 28 days. The third mo the trying for a baby it could be 31 days and throw you. This is why it's definitely good to hold off on incredibly early testing because you will drive yourself crazy waiting for a bfp, thinking you've actually accomplished it, only to get your period 48 hours later.

I know you are going to do symptom list, but just remind us of your OPK/BD regime. That just sounded way too personal! Lol. I mean did you follow SMEP to a T? Xx

Thanks @ChampooPapi. I think i have resd too much now i dont know whats good and whats bad. Thats good advice. I have been following my plan and DTD every day when i thought i was ovulating (serial CM and Cervix checker here) we planned on DTD every other day during the TWW anyway. OH will be delighted!!

I totally agree with the early testing. I dont plan on testing until after AF is due. Just so happens i am away this month so have a few distractions anyway! Fingers crossed i stick to it!!

Though you don't sound like you need it as if your dtd that much your going to fall soon! By this time next year statistically nearly all of us will be pregnant, that's a very good way to see it I think

quick google reveals 75% or there abouts of us will conceive within six months of first trying.

There is going to be a lot of bfp by the end of january on here!

I have my fingers crossed @champooPapi. I have wanted this for so long but had to wait until OH was ready. Wow 75% is quite high. Im so ecited to start seeing some more BFPon here!!

I followed SMEP to a T apart from the last single day but my temp had already risen for 2 days by then so I knew my window was closed. I started testing with CB OPKS on CD 10 I think because I know I O around Cd 16 - 20, this month it happened on CD17 so fairly early for me. I took Evening Primrose, Pregnancy tablets for Vegans (I'm veggie but they have high levels of everything I needed), Shatavari (homeopathic adaptogen to balance hormones), Maca, omega 3s and raspberry leaf tea. All of these apart from the multi vitamins I only took until Ov. Hoping to be able to upload my chart Tomorrow when I have more photo upload credits!!

Hi all is it okay if I join? Planning to do SMEP with my next cycle.

I'm 27 OH is 30.
Will be cycle #2- am currently 10dpo on cycle 1 but had a temp dip and getting pms so I know AF will soon be here.
Had implant out 22.11.19 ovulated after 14 days.

Fingers crossed for next cycle. I've heard of lots of success with SMEP :). X

Welcome :Loubell19 , out of interest how many temperature drops do you get before AF? I'm new to temping, have 2 days of temp drops then AF on 3rd day last 2 cycles.

I'm 10DPO, so symptom spotting! Very sore boobs which I don't normally get. Odd cramps past few days but I was convinced last cycle was different too as I was bloated and crampy :/

I just did another frer, cb digi and a cheap one step one and got negative on the cheapie but pregnant 1-2 on digi! 🤷🏻‍♀️ just in case anyone frets in the coming days/ weeks and testing with cheapies, it was stark white!

Thanks guys! I'm new off the implant so not sure yet. 1st drop was this morning but got all the usual pms symptoms so guessing AF will be here either tomorrow or the next day!

@Lucy5546 hey how are you doing? You've DTD loads! Good on you! When's your birthday? I'm not due to ovulate around new years day so mid Jan for me! Also with regards to sex in the TWW.. I didn't even realise I was pregnant last time and we'd just got married so were having sex loads during the 'TWW'! Baby was fine up until 7.5 weeks so nothing to do with the sex we were having. I worried about this though and midwife said sex was fine throughout all of pregnancy x

@ChampooPapi hey, I hope so.. massively failed with SMEP so far haha! My only saving grace is that my cycles are average 38 days long. I've only BD on CD7 and CD11, now on CD13. You're so lovely, bless you feeling quite positive now seeing @TunnocksTcake BFP on here! How are you doing? Are you in the TWW now? Also hell yeah to orgasms! Definitely not spoken about enough!

@Bunny2006 hi lovely, I've also failed haha! Not DTD every other night at the mo as my DH is a teacher and is exhausted! Luckily I have super long cycles so no chance of O until maybe next week or week after. How are you getting on? Have you done a test or too early?

@Mrssendy hi lovely. Welcome! how is SMEP going? I've heard the same with Pregnacare preconception pills. I'm on Zita West vitafem and DH on Zita West vitamen. Are you on any now?

So as for me, I feel as though I've failed so far haha. We BD on CD7 and CD11, now I'm on CD13. My cycles are long though (38 days) and OPKs negative so I know I haven't missed the boat this cycle. Hard to BD at the moment as my DH is a teacher and is exhausted. Also to add to the stress.. we've just bought a house (am I mad?!) hoping this doesn't impact TTC! Expected move in is Feb/March so hoping to be PG by then! I'll be able to get out of cleaning and moving then hopefully

Hi @danielasummer. Im good thank you. Fingers crossed that i ovulated when i think i did. But we are still going to DTD every other day to cover ourselves and for fun!! I am 2-3 DPO and feel nothing yet. My Birthday is 5th of jan.
Yes i was thinking sex was ok in TWW as so many people dont know they are pregnant then. One less thing for me to worry about 😂😂.
You haven't missed it yet so dont rule yourself out and just go will the flow. Congrats with the house BTW. Exciting times for you

Heyyyy! How are you? I’m on CD24. Period is due on Sunday.. well flo suddenly changed to saying it’s due tmmrw! Lol.. will only test if I miss my period! Congrats on the house btw xxx

@danielasummer thanks for thinking of me.. well after my positive FRER i done another FRER and IC the next morning, FRER negative and IC had a faint line.. i tested again this morning with FRER and clear blue and both negative 😓.. so iv either had a chemical or it was a dodgy test.. im just going to wait for late AF and im never testing early again 😫
