Natural cycles TEMP ADVICE PLEASE

Ellabella234 · 02/12/2019 00:09

Hello, advice please. New to using Natural cycles app and tracking my BBTemp so the app isn't aware of my cycles properly yet as they tend to vary anyway. My cycles are usually 40-48days long. The last few months there has been two 30day cycles and then a 41 day long, last month was 31. So I thought perhaps they're trying to regulate to a more 'normal' length. This month I am currently on day 42 awaiting period . I've been taking my temp each morning (usually around 5am ish when 3yo wakes for a cuddle) -- I haven't taken it consistently every morning but I think I've been doing ok with it so far. This is my chart. What's going on? Still trying to get my head around it all but If period is coming should my temp still be consistently up? I had a drop one morning to 35.4 on day 25, next day it was 36.1 and then it has stayed above 36 since then, it was 36.5 on day 35. Any thoughts what's going on? Is it just my period coming or is there a possibility I'm pregnant? We're not purposefully trying hard to conceive but we aren't being 'careful' either and it happens then we'd be happy. Hence the app so I can start to get a grip on my varying long cycles. I'm new to this sorry for blabbing. Thank you Smile

Looks like you ovulated at the big dip and now temp is rising. If no period/temp drop it could just be one of those things, a one off, but it might not be....

danielasummer · 02/12/2019 11:42

@Ellabella234 As it's your first cycle, I wouldn't worry too much - it took me 3 (or 4) cycles for them to recognise when my follicular phase, ovulation and luteal phases were. I've been using it for years and love it, so stick with it.

Looking at your chart though, I think you ovulated around CD 33 as your temps after that are above the coverline. I would measure every day of the working week if possible then have weekends off, and mark all 'weird' temps as deviating as that can really mess up your data and algorithm. Maybe email NC and explain your confusion as from experience their customer service and email timings are great x

Ellabella234 · 02/12/2019 12:26

@danielasummer @MrsArchchancellorRidcully
Ok ladies so we don't think there's a possibility I'm pregnant?

I'm waiting every day for period now but it's still not here...does temp drop when period arrives?

Thank you for replying x

@Ellabella234 Can you post a pic of the 'history' tab?

Can't upload last few days but I guess you can see from the graph sort of. Some mornings I can't take it as my little girls wakes up crying a lot for me and I can't lie there for another minute waiting for the temp to beep it's stressful haha! So some days are missed!x

Ellabella234 · 02/12/2019 16:54

Was just wondering if it could be im pregnant ?. I guess time will tell....

OP posts:
danielasummer · 02/12/2019 18:21

@Ellabella234 Honestly I'm not sure because it doesn't look like you've added enough data for the algorithm to confirm ovulation but there is also a chance you are as your temps are above the coverline... if you have consistent high temps for 18+ days then do a pregnancy test :) come back to this thread and let us know please! x

Ellabella234 · 02/12/2019 21:36

@danielasummer Thanks for being with me love! I'll definitely come back to thread and let you know if AF arrives or not or if I get a positive test. What is considered high then - above the line? Thank you again for helping x

OP posts:
danielasummer · 03/12/2019 07:12

@Ellabella234 no problem, so sorry I can't help more! Yes high would be above the coverline for at least 3 temps to confirm ovulation. But they may have got your coverline incorrect if you haven't added enough data (I don't mean to say you're not pregnant, just telling you what I know from experience when chatting with their customer services) x

danielasummer · 06/12/2019 06:59

@Ellabella234 hey, any updates? X

Ellabella234 · 06/12/2019 09:59

@danielasummer AF arrived, and I'm pretty positive it's that rather than IB. Third day now. Also temp has now been exactly 36.07 for 2 days in a row and it's fallen below the line so that's what it is. Oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️. It's hard as my cycles are so long and variable I don't actually know when I'm definitely ovulating but hopefully the app can help soon. On second cycle now. How are you doing?Smile

OP posts:
danielasummer · 06/12/2019 10:02

@Ellabella234 ahh bless you. AF has arrived for me today, so we're in the same boat! That's good that your follicular temps are consistent.

I'm the same as you - my cycles are support long and irregular so I could ovulate at any time really. I've just created a new thread - for those of us testing in January - if you want to join :)

Ellabella234 · 06/12/2019 10:49

How can I find that thread @danielasummer ? Nice that we're in the same boat and close in cycles starting . How long are yours usually? X

@Ellabella234
Here's the thread lovely: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3761708-Testing-mid-January-anyone-else-like-to-join

Yes it is! We can support each other through :) I also made an SMEP board and there's some lovely ladies on there too:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3759056-SMEP-feel-free-to-join

My cycles can range from 30 - 50 days. What about yours? x

Ellabella234 · 06/12/2019 17:39

@danielasummer mine are typically between 41-48 days but I've had two in the last few months at 30 days and I've had one months ago at 57!! So I guess similar range to you lovely. I'll join the thread now thank you 🙂x

OP posts:
Ellabella234 · 06/12/2019 17:39

@danielasummer what is SMEP? X

OP posts:
danielasummer · 06/12/2019 18:18

@Ellabella234 ours sound so similar. Makes me very envious of people who have 28 day regular cycles to be honest! I have no idea what goes on with mine half the time!

SMEP is a process to aid pregnancy, so you BD every other day from CD8 until you get a positive OPK (start using OPKs from day 10), then when you get a positive OPK you baby dance 3 days in a row, miss a day then BD one more time, then you can rest during the TWW :) Here is the step by step on their website - spermmeetseggplan.com/smep-step-by-step/ x

danielasummer · 31/01/2020 14:18

Hi @Ellabella234 how are you doing? Just came across this post and checking in!

Ellabella234 · 31/01/2020 15:53

@danielasummer Hiya lovely! Nice to hear from you. The Jan thread has gone a bit quiet now hasn't it?? :) All ok here! I got my first dark OPK on CD18 so I think I ovulated CD19 unless you can ov on the day of your positive OPK? So I'm only 6 or 7dpo today. I've felt a lot of dull aching and fulness low down for days now and the odd twinge and pain, not sure if I'm just going mad though thinking I may be...how are you doing? X

OP posts:
danielasummer · 01/02/2020 12:29

@Ellabella234 yes it has gone quiet! Think I might start a new thread at some point for March testers (I'm due to ovulate in a few weeks with my super long cycles!) You can ovulate on the day of your positive OPK I believe, but I can't be sure. Hoping those symptoms mean a BFP for you! Are they unusual at this time in your cycle? I'm ok thank you, CD12 today, usually ovulate between CD25 and CD35 so we shall see. Trying to keep chill this cycle x

Ellabella234 · 04/02/2020 12:56

@danielasummer Afternoon lovely! I had a big sharp lightning pain down through my vagina yesterday and have had a strong feeling I am pregnant even more since then. I tested with a superdrug early detection this morning and it showed a very faint line but they're not as sensitive as frer so I held my wee for 3hrs and just got a frer now midday and this is my test 😧!!

@Ellabella234 wow amazing!! Congratulations!! Really happy for you lovely.. have you contacted your GP yet? How many weeks are you, going by ovulation date on the app?

Ellabella234 · 04/02/2020 17:05

@danielasummer thank you I don't quite believe it but I guess it's definitely positive... we'll see if it's a sticky one.... very early yet - I ovulated on the 24th or 25th (has my first positive OPK) so I am either 10 or 11dpo today. Going to test over next few days first to see if the line gets darker... how are you doing?xx
