Anyone testing just before Christmas?

Quite upset as the smileys don't have their Santa hats on yet.

AF arrived 2 days ago so I will probably be testing around 21st December (cycles are about 24 days)

Anyone else???

@TunnocksTcake, congratulations. Yay, a BFP. If it was me I'd like to say I'd test the next few days to see the line get stronger and then maybe do a digital at the weekend?
But who knows. I'd probably lose my head and go and buy ALL the tests now and do them one after another

@Spark27 haha yeah I think the latter is what will happen! I'm going to go and buy alll the tests today and I have 3 frers left over so will do them tomorrow morning if I get a darker line on a frer first. Eeep so nervous!

Ladies can anyone help me work out how many days post ovulation I am if I got a solid smiley on clear blue ovulation tests on the 8th December? Please

@Chlo04 Your solid smiley/ LH surge is 12 - 48 hours before ovulation. Most people ovulate the following day, so I would say you can safely assume the 9th was your O date, or the 10th if you are being cautious and don't want to test too soon!

Are the tests that actually say pregnant/not pregnant, that you can also do early, any good???

I seem to have a very faint positive on cheap tests but a definite negative on more expensive ones.

I want to surprise my partner when I get a positive, and would rather have a nicer looking test!

@debbs77 they are definitely less sensitive so may take another few days to come up! Congrats on your positive though I am wondering when to try a digi! Thinking maybe tomorrow x

To be honest, I'm not convinced that I'm not just seeing things, so will hold off on my excitement for a couple more days!

For the first cycle ever, I'm actually not sure when I ovulated 🤷‍♂️ I'm actually feeling considerably less obsessive though, because I don't know which dpo I am. I use natural cycles, and it says I ovulated between CD 15 and 17, but I had a clear lh surge at midday on CD 16 so would assume it would happen at least a day after that. I guess CD 17 is most likely? I guess what matters is that that we totally sealed the deal in the bd department 😂 we actually high fived at how many times we'd managed to do it this cycle 😂 even if some of those times I would have rather been asleep
Currently AF due on 27th Dec but might do a cheeky frer Christmas day just in case I get a bfp from santa

I've just tried to test at 11dpo and the Amazon bought frer didn't even work!! Biggest anti climax ever and so annoying that I now have to wait til the morning 😔 almost certain I'm out but wanted to be sure before I crack open the Baileys! Anyone else else had a faulty frer before? Might explain why they're only £5.99 for 2! 🙄

A bit late to the chat but joining in anyway...! This is our first cycle TTC. I THINK I’m 8dpo based on temp spike on the 10th and my normal cycle lengths (my OneStep ovulation sticks didn’t light up at all this month! Very frustrating) Planning on testing on Thursday (10dpo) with FRER but telling myself it will probably be negative. AF due on Christmas Eve. Hope I’m doing everything right as so new to it all! Please correct me if I’m doing something wrong

Hey @BBLibra my af is due on the 24th too. Not sure when I'll test. Part of me wants to know ASAP, but then I'll probably worry and not trust the result, or be upset earlier.

@Mystie, no don't say that, I bought some of those cos they were so cheap. 11dpo is still early as they say implantation can go up to 12dpo, and then can take more days for levels to be high enough. Your not out. But I still say go for the Baileys if you want one. I drank a fair amount before I knew I was pregnant with my DD and all was fine (even though she's a crazy loon )

Probs another reason I don't want to find out too soon as then I'll have to say goodbye to alcohol, pate, good cheese.....

@Mystie oh that is so annoying! I used those cheapies and they were fine I think they just have a short use by date of 2 months or something... hopefully the next one will work for you!
I did more tests this eve and got my pregnant 1-2 weeks on digital so feeling more sure of it now. Did a one step cheapie at the same time and it was stark stark white so they obviously aren't as sensitive as they say! Something to bear in mind for future testing!

Meanwhile ashamed to say I've just finished the quality street tin a week before Christmas 🤣 at least if af arrived on Thursday I can blame it on her 🤓

Did another test today, same extreme faint line but actually less than the other one I did the day before. Might get a different brand and try that in a few days just cos I can't help but poas and see if anything progressed! 10dpo according to app but 5dpo according to cm. @TunnocksTcake

@Mystie I am new to Mumsnet and also going to test tomorrow morning! Also just finished a big back of buttons :)
came off the pill last month and thought I'd track my ovulation as I know it takes your body time to get regular again (and to see if I do ovulate) I ovulated on cd18 according to opk. No idea how long my cycles are since this is my first month off pill. I BD on cd18 just by chance it was on the same day as ovulation. Tomorrow morning will be cd30 and I think I should test? Please let me know how you get on! Already hooked on this app! Xxxx

@Bbutterfly ahh good to know we're in the same boat! I've just done last pee of the night so absolutely no chance of testing again tonight 🤣 really hope you get a BFP!! I'm defo feeling like I'm out this month but being able to really enjoy all of the fun over Christmas is softening the blow, this time next month I'll be 😭

Woke up early this morning and decided to do a test. Obvs got a BFN. Not surprised as it's still really early to be testing, just really annoyed with myself for caving.

But, I've got an Xmas do on Thursday night so it does mean I can have some guilt free wine and blue cheese. Yay. Given that I have no idea whats happening with my cycle this month I'm going to assume that I'm out and just try and wait for AF without getting stressed about it (what will probably happens is that I might manage to hold off til Saturday before I give in and test again )

12dpo and BFN for me to this morning @Spark27 like you said at least we can enjoy a few guilt free drinks now but still never gets any less disappointing, especially when you spend the night before dreaming about BFPs. Oh well, onwards! Have acupuncture today so at least I'll be able to rant to her and relax for half hour. Might even have some Christmas cake today 🍰

Hardly slept all night thinking about testing and got a BFN so I guess we're all feeling like we are out! As you said at least we can crack open the baileys...
Do your best to try and wait @Spark27 I know it's so hard though! No idea when I'm expecting Af.

@LizzieLottie88 only 10 dpo and 6 days until AF is supposedly due. But the last one was so ridiculous I don't really know how long it went on for, and I had 2 ovulation tests that looked positive a week apart. So I'm pretty clueless this month .

I'd like it to happen this month, but expecting it won't so will put more effort into next month.
