BBT checking — is it necessary? Is knowing when you ovulate exactly really needed or is it just as effective to BD every day or every two days?

Does pre seed work? Is there any normal lube that doesn’t affect sperm as pre seed is bloody expensive and looks like a bit of a mood killer to be injecting myself with lube every time we BD.

Is folic acid enough or should I try e.g. seven seas trying for a baby or pregnacare conception?

Should I expect the worst? I think I’ve been on here so much that I’m convinced everyone struggles ttc, anyone on here that didn’t up for giving me some positive stories please?

BBT checking is not necessary. The advice is to dtd every two days until the day after you have ovulated. My DH actually eventually asked me to temperature chart so that we would know when we could get away with not dtd every two days! Sometimes it’s nice to confirm that ovulation actually did happen if you have PCOS/irregular cycles.

Never tried pre-seed. I think it’s only necessary if you don’t have much cervical mucus at the correct time in your cycle e.g. if you’re getting on a bit and have some trouble with hormones

Folic acid is enough for most people. Again, if you have issues with your cycles there are other things that can be helpful, but if your cycles are regular then folic acid is enough.

People on here are people ttc, mostly. So disproportionately those that are struggling, because the ones who aren’t are on the pregnancy boards! FWIW, I had no trouble with DD1 - we didn’t track anything at all, conceived within a couple of months of “not not trying”. But having difficulty with ttc#2. Unless there’s a reason why you think it is likely to be difficult for you, I’d suggest you just go with the flow and see what happens!

@iguanaa I temp and I like it but I'd recommend going for a few cycles without it just to enjoy the journey for a little while.

There's no scientific proof that pre-seed works. I like to use it but sparingly. Normal lube cannot be used.

You don't need to take expensive tablets as folic acid and vitamin d is usually enough at this stage for most people.

Try to think positive. 12 months ttc is very normal and though it seems as it's a struggle as people find it frustrating, it definitely isn't medically considered that you're struggling to conceive to take that length of time. I got a bfp on cycle 8 though I had a mmc. I am on cycle 7 after my mmc and I try to believe that the odds are I'll be pregnant within the next few cycles.
