BBT stress

Is anyone else experiencing stress when tracking BBT? I wake up around 5 times a night, worrying that it's time to temp, which obviously messes up my sleep and then my accurate BBT readings...

Finding this so difficult as obviously the less I stress the better, but it's easier said than done x

I should add that I had a MMC in October so feeling the pressure to get pregnant ASAP :( (putting pressure on myself to fall quickly as desperate for a little bubba! - as we all are) x

Hello! Sorry about your stress and MMC :( Perhaps if you're finding it a bit stressful you should avoid? Otherwise you might just drive yourself crazy.

Or, set an alarm for say 7am and go from there? You could use opk sticks along with you BBT too, that way if you miss your temp you have other markers to look out for. Definetely need to get your sleep!

I’m doing it but I just tomo whenever I wake up, I’m not trying to take it to seriously and next month May just do opks!

Don’t feel pressured as it never happens then, just try to relax and it will happen when you aren’t focusing on it so much!

How long have you been ttc? I’ve been trying since July and it seems ages but I know it’s quite the norm for it to take upto a year!

Good luck

@Quiffy thank you Flowers

I only ovulate around 5 times a year so I feel like I have to measure BBT otherwise I wouldn't pick up when I ovulate and wouldn't be able to evidence it to my doctor.

Will definitely use OPKs next cycle so if my BBT readings are off, I can go by the OPKs too :) thank you for your help x

@Sunflower2019 I think I'll be using OPKs next cycle too, along with BBT but hopefully if I discard a temp I can pick up O with OPKs. We will see!

I am still in the same cycle as my MMC as I haven't had a period yet, so I guess first cycle TTC since my miscarriage.

Wish I could just chill with the temps!! x

Hello @danielasummer sorry to hear about your MMC. I went through the same thing in July and it is just the worst. I was also desperate to conceive again afterwards and I found it very difficult when it didnt happen by the 3 month post miscarriage marker.
I have found that using OPKs does take the stress off the BBT-ing but also that, whilst you want to be as accurate as you can be with it, if you have a thermal shift it will still be obvious even if you take your temp at a slightly different time one day, as you are looking for sustained rise for 3 days after IYSWIM? So try not to worry that every reading is accurate, it is the general trend you want.
I also now only temp from CD 10 - 25 ish to capture the fertile time and confirm O, might be tricky in your situation but you can give yourself a rest at times when you know you are not fertile if that helps? Also trying to just dtd EOD throughout the cycle then every day is covered.
Take care of yourself and it will come.

danielasummer · 26/11/2019 12:26

@tunnockstcake hi, thank you, I'm sorry to hear of yours too x yes it is the worst. How are you feeling now, emotionally? (If you don't mind me asking)

I just don't understand how my temps have risen and at my scan on Saturday they said none of my follicles were maturing..it doesn't make sense (unless I'd already ovulated before the scan?!)

When do you DTD every day? I guess just when your OPKs are getting stronger? x

Hey @danielasummer have you thought about using Ovusense. It is an upfront cost but I'm much less stressed (albeit weird temps as you know this cycle), than I was doing bbt.

danielasummer · 26/11/2019 13:17

@Chefwifelife I've just looked at your chart; I'm afraid I'm not sure as I only temp orally and not sure how ovusense works?

I would be up for it but I've temped for years so just thinking of continuing. Was never stressful before but it is now at the time that I need it to be as accurate as possible!

@danielasummer No I don't mind you asking - I think it was definitely harder for the first three months as that's when everyone said I would be most fertile so i was sure it would happen within that time period but somehow when it didnt (after LOTS of tears and tantrums) I was able to chill out a bit more as there wasnt a goal as such. I still find every period hard, and have had to avoid some friends who have become pregnant since but I'm getting stronger every month and most of the time I'm ok. Trying to focus on my health and exercising etc, and putting less focus on conceiving because I know stress won't help things.
Sorry I think I was a bit unclear - I meant that if you dtd every other day throughout the month then there is sperm around for whenever you ovulate, and I have heard that is what doctors suggest. We are going to try the Sperm meets egg plan (lots of info on google if you're interested) again this month and see if that works.
I havent been for any scans or anything since so I don't know much about that but it is possible for your temperature to take a couple of days to rise so you may well have ovulated before your scan. I hope its good news for youxx

Chefwifelife · 27/11/2019 14:18

@danielasummer you have a sensor you pop "inside" overnight. It records your core temp and is more accurate than bbt. Then it connects to hour phone and links with your chart.

danielasummer · 06/12/2019 07:01

So sorry I haven't replied! @TunnocksTcake @Chefwifelife thank you so much for your advice both of you. I'll keep going with oral thermometer for BBT. Finding this period a mix of emotions to be honest, it's bringing back memories from my miscarriage but also feeling that I can start afresh and crack on with trying this cycle. Going for SMEP! Wishing you both all the best. Think I'm on the same other thread as you @TunnocksTcake so we'll catch up on there I'm sure! 🤞🏻 for success stories next year x
