I'm on cycle #6 now, trying clear blue digital ovulation tests for the first time. I've been getting flashing smileys from cd6, today - cd13 I got my static smiley 😊. I have some questions though, does this mean I am due to ovulate in the next 12-36 hours or can I have already ovulated? Also do I start counting the dpo as if I ovulated today, so tomorrow will be 1dpo? So confused, sorry if these are really stupid questions. Thanks

You won't get the positive after ovulation. The surge in hormone that it detects (lutenising hormone) most often happens 12-72 hours before ovulation (with a few caveats that I won't go into just now for the sake of clarity). I would count ovulation day as tomorrow. So the day after would be 1 dpo.

Are your cycles regular? With the info you've provided, if they are, arrival on cd 28 (which then becomes cd1 when af starts), then you have about a 13 day luteal phase, which is totally normal.

All of this is a bit 'horses for courses' as sperm can live for several days, so you don't need to worry about being off by a day or two. All you can do is dtd! And dtd before ovulation can lead to pregnancy, not after.

Sorry if any of that is teaching grandma to suck eggs!!!

Ooh they're really good! I definitely recommend them. I can't remember the answers to your questions as it's been a while since I used them but I found the instructions to be very straightforward so maybe have another read? I got pregnant on the 2nd cycle of using them (5th of ttc) and I honestly give full credit to them as I have a short cycle (24 days) but had been DTD at completely the wrong time - i'd been using the natural cycles app and tracking my BBT with said I ovulated on day 17. These picked up ovulation around day 10 so a full week out! Good luck, I hope it's successful for you too :) xx

Thank you both. My cycles range between 24 and 27 days long, so luteal phase could be anything between 10 and 13 days, does that seem right? Is 10 days too short? Going to tru and dtd every day for next 3 days and keep my fingers crossed. Weve managed to dtd for 4 of the last 5 days so I'm hoping we will be in with a really good shot this month x

If your cycle is between 24-27 days and you are getting a static smiley on day 13 I think that sounds pretty much perfect. I was also worried that my luteal phase was too short but it wasn't a problem, I was stressing over nothing. I agree you have a good chance this month from what you've said. Don't be too disheartened if it doesn't work first time though, like I say it took a couple of goes for me x

Thank you @mamabear88 😊 I'm just happy that I've actually got a positive ovulation test ha, I was panicking that I wasnt ovulating as it was getting further into this cycle and kept getting flashing smiley after flashing smiley 🙈 x

A static means your are likely to ovulate 24/48 hours after Smile
