My DS is 21 months and we're starting to consider maybe having another. It took 18 months to get pregnant and I have rheumatoid arthritis which meant it was a very painful and stressful 18 months. I also struggled with a lot of pain throughout my pregnancy and immediately after delivery.

I know no one can tell me it'll be quicker with number 2 but I'd be interested to see if people who took a long time to get pregnant first time conceived any quicker in subsequent pregnancies. My doctor tells me there's now medication I can stay on while TTC but last time was just so awful that it's tough to even think about putting myself through it again

It hasn’t been for us unfortunately.
It took us 4mths to get pregnant with DS (almost 2yrs old) and we’ve been TTC number 2 now for almost a year and are currently undergoing fertility testing.

Not for me either - 3 years ttc nr 2 and have had 4 mc and 2 ruptured ectopics now infertile and on the IVF rollercoaster 😢 but I'm an extreme case x

Sorry but that's not my experience either. DD (nearly 3) took 8 months to conceive and we're currently on month 11 of trying for our second

2 years for DS3
1st try for DS currently cooking .
It was quite a shock as I'd resigned myself to it taking another few years, maybe even longer as we are a bit older and no fitter. We had diagnosed MFI first time but decided not to pursue further treatment but fell naturally.

1 month for dc1. I’m 7 weeks with dc2 and it has taken 2.5 years

WhatwouldRuthdo · 24/11/2019 06:59

7 months for DC1 and first month for DC2. So yes, it was quicker for me- I’m very aware I’m lucky.

Spanneroo · 24/11/2019 07:29

Our first was conceived very quickly, second took over a year, with multiple MC, and the twins were first time.

Not for us either, first was a surprise, this time round we had a loss at 6 and a half weeks on month 5 so moving onto month 6 now Hmm

PrimeraVez · 25/11/2019 04:43

DC1 took 9/10 months. I then got pregnant a further three times (2 MCs and DC2) and each time got pregnant either first or second month of trying.

A few months after DC1 was born, I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid. I wonder if that explains why DC1 took a while, but once I was properly medicated, it was always very quick.

Yes, significantly quicker with my second. My cycle became regular for the first time in 20 years too after number one x

Thanks for all the replies. I know no one can tell me what will happen but I guess I want to mentally prepare myself for another long slog. Ignorance really was bliss last time
