Hi looking to see if anyone has experienced this,
Been to the pharmacy as I was looking for help on how to get my period started and the pharmacist has told me to go to the maternity ward at the hospital, I have had multiple negative pregnancy tests no period for 7 weeks and have had extremely sore and tender breasts the advice the pharmacist gave me was don't take any more pregnancy tests but go to the maternity ward and get checked there as he presumes I am pregnant but having a typical pregnancy that won't show on tests. Has anyone had this before? Looking for some advice on what to do!

Have you been to see a gp? They should be able to do a blood test to check for pregnancy. Is there a chance you could be pregnant? There are people who never get a positive test.

@AnnoyedByAlfieBear I've been to the gp and they told me to take a pregnancy test every week until I get a positive or a period and told me the pain in my breasts was eczema but I have experienced eczema my whole life and know it isn't there's a good chance I could be as me and my husband have been trying for a baby just not sure on what to do!

Just go to your GP - it doesn’t sound like something the pharmacist could help with in the first place and there’s no point seeing a midwife if you don’t know you’re pregnant.

The gp I'm currently with told me I have eczema on my breasts so I'm not keen on listening to them where I stay the doctors recommend you visit the pharmacy before coming to them as they aren't willing to help half the time and have refused to take a blood test from me

Family planning clinic?

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 22/11/2019 15:32

I'd ask for a different doctor to be honest. Ask specifically for blood tests if you can.

Quiffy · 22/11/2019 15:40

Agreed, can you ask for another doctor in your practice? You could do with the bloods so you know either way for sure.

NicoleR14 · 22/11/2019 15:46

I think I will I have an appointment with my gp for Tuesday I will ask for a blood test to be done so I know either way!

I seriously doubt that you can just turn up at the maternity unit and expect to be seen. Particularly if you don't know you are pregnant. These places generally need a referral.

Sore boobs don't mean you are pregnant unfortunately, it could be thrush in your breasts, hormones or any number of things.

You really need to go back to your GP

NicoleR14 · 22/11/2019 17:21

@Whyhaveidonethis as I said in previous comment we are trying for a baby and sore boobs isn't the only symptom I've had I'm looking to see if anyone else had had advice like this before as I've been told it can be a cryptic pregnancy

@NicoleR14 you only mention sore breasts. I'm just trying to save you a wasted trip to the hospital, no need to be so prickly.

I really wouldn't go to the hospital it's hard enough actually being pregnant and getting an appointment on time. You cannot just turn up and ask for bloods to be done in fact our hospital now won't do them for maternity and makes you go to the general blood testing room where every single other person goes for a blood test and you even need a slot for that. Pregnancy symptoms mimic so many other things let's face it the main ones are tired and nausea and painful breasts how many other things cause that too.
