Missed AF, Neg pt

Hi. My period is 2 days late, which I’ve never experienced before except from when I was pregnant.
For 3 days now I have been feeling extremely nauseous too.
I have taken some tests (just the £1 pink dye ones) which have all said negative.

Does anyone know why I would have missed my period if I am not pregnant? I’m just so confused
Thanks

Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️🙂

Have you been ttc? From other posts on here I know some people didn't get a positive until 4-5 days past their missed period but it may be the tests! Have you tried testing with a frer?

MrsG95 · 22/11/2019 08:44

Yes I have been using an app to track my fertility. I have 2 children and I got positive results on the day my period was due with both, that’s why I’m not really understanding what is going on right now.
Sorry can you tell me what a frer is? I’m really not down with the lingo🤣

Sorry 😅 frer is the first response early results test. Usually they'll pick it up if you are pregnant.

TripleASays · 22/11/2019 09:15

I'm in the same situation. I'm now 5 days late with two BFN yesterday. Hopefully we both get some answers soon!

HalfPenny28 · 22/11/2019 17:31

It must be so frustrating 😔 I know when I was just a day late last month and got a bfn I just wanted af to come or to get a positive! Not knowing was so hard. The only advice I can give is to wait a couple of days and if af still hasn't shown and you've still got a negative test is to see your gp - I know sometimes you can miss a cycle but it's best to check :)

GaaaaarlicBread · 22/11/2019 20:19

@TripleASays I could have written your comment myself! I am 5 day slate, all tests are negative! I tried clear blue digitals and even they said "Not pregnant". I am so confused!

TripleASays · 22/11/2019 20:40

@itsemily it's awful isn't it? I'm strongly considering going for blood tests if af hasn't appeared by Monday x

MrsG95 · 22/11/2019 22:11

Hopefully we all have some answers soon! I’m only on day 2 but I feel like I’m going insane already haha😅
Tests today and yesterday were both negative so I think I’ll leave it a few days to see if af comes or not. The wait is horrible x

I'm currently 6 days late, been a regular at 26 days for years!! I did a FRER which was BFN (poss evap..) on Tuesday. My temp however has dropped this morning :(

TripleASays · 23/11/2019 08:01

AF just arrived for me 6 days late!

MrsG95 · 23/11/2019 08:20

Af has arrived with a vengeance! 😔 maybe next time x

Same here @mrsg95 , oh well , it’ll happen when it’s meant to x

Late ovulation = late af. An app is only as good at predicting ovulation as the data your provide it. More data (opks, bbt, cervical mucus) will improve predictions.

There are always the same number of days between ovulation and the start of af for an individual (give or take a day). So if you ovulate later in a cycle, af will also rice a few days later.

Don't go to a gp until you've missed two or three periods. They won't do blood tests unless you've had conflicting home pregnancy tests. Hpt are no more sensitive than blood tests.

A few women won't get positive tests until after af was due, and sometimes this is because of later ovulation (as in, af would have arrived late anyway) and sometimes it's caused by later than average implantation.

Stats on what day past ovulation women get a positive can be found on the countdown to pregnancy website. Have a google of 'pregnancy test results by dpo'.

That's not true about doctors doing a blood test. I phoned up because I was 10 days late for period, felt a bit off but all pregnancy tests were negative. They immediately offered a blood test a few days later with a nurse to rule out or confirm.

A few days after that it was confirmed I was pregnant. Normal nhs doctors surgery

physicskate · 24/11/2019 15:23

Of all the years I've spent on this board, a doctor doing a blood test with negative home tests is few and far between. There are hundreds, if not thousands of women who've been refused a blood test. So having the expectation of one and then being refused one can be pretty disheartening in an already confusing situation.

Why do they refuse to offer these blood tests routinely? Because having a late period is not at all uncommon (even if it is for you). Most women off contraception will have at least one a year. When not ttc or on contraception, most women wouldn't notice or think twice about it.

@ChampooPapi I'm glad they sorted it for you, but there have been hundreds, if not thousands of women in previous threads about this issue who've not had the same experience with their surgery.

Congrats on your pregnancy.

ChampooPapi · 24/11/2019 19:18

@physicskate oh I'm not pregnant currently, that was a few months ago and it ended in a miscarriage at 3 months.

But my other two pregnancies previously were also confirmed at the doctor's by blood tests, one in Bristol one in Devon. Probably isn't the majority of surgery's but some will test you, depends on the area or policy I guess
