Hi all
I'm 33 and DH is 34 and we will be TTC in March - 3 months after we get back from holiday (got to wait due to Zika virus risk). Since I have those 3 months spare I wondered if any of you could contribute with some things I could do in that time to increase my chances. We have tried casually last year, but nothing happened after 6 months - however it was a stressful time with bereavement, selling a house, etc etc and we were drinking a lot.
I know to cut down on drinking (I'd still like to have a bit on weekends though - or would it be worth going tee-total?) and I've increased exercise by walking to work 50 mins each way. I am overweight according to BMI though so I should try to lose more. Anything else you can think of, for both of us? Foods to eat or avoid? Vitamin combos? Wacky stuff that you swear worked for you?
Also, we can afford to get checked out privately, but I'm not sure whether to do it preemptively or just try first - I'm a bit scared of wasting precious time.
Thanks ladies!

Start taking folic acid and vit d now 😊

Have you been tracking your periods so that you know your usual cycle length? You could start using OPK's now to give you an idea of what is normal for you, might make your future 2WW's a bit easier! 😁

Conceive plus gel. Just read the reviews. Sure it's the thing that worked for us.

I ttc at 42. No fizzy pop. Lots of leafy veg. Dh took soluble vit C 1000 mg x 2 daily for top sperm, remember sperm cycle is about 90 days so he needs to get them now!
Folic acid for me.
Got a bfp third cycle!!

Thanks all, especially thanks for the vitamins and no fizzy pop suggestion as I am partial to a Diet Coke despite knowing it's horrible!

I used preseed fertility lube. I was ttc 6 months and used for 2 months. The 1st month I was really stingy with it (expensive!). The month I concieved I was VERY Liberal 🤣. I also second opks. Some people find them stressful, but for me it took the stress away knowing when I ovulated.

Hope you’ve started taking folic acid? I’d say just enjoy being able to be spontaneous. My husband’s bday is coming up and I’ve booked last minute flights away. I figured we may not be able to do things like that much longer! (Ttc)

I have used pre-seed Lubricant and Seven Seas tablets first time this month so I will let you know if they have worked Smile This will be my second cycle.

HalfPenny28 · 23/11/2019 07:30

I second preseed lubricant! I also have been taking folic acid and vitamin d for the past couple of months. Second cycle for me so interested to see how everyone gets on x

peachypetite · 23/11/2019 08:40

I think I’ll check out this pre seed stuff.

Tommy’s have a good tool on their website which might be useful: www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/planning-pregnancy/planning-for-pregnancy-tool

I see someone has already mentioned folic acid, which is definitely worth starting. It could also be worth having an STD check if that’s not something you’ve done recently, just to rule out any infections that could affect a pregnancy.
