Implantation bleeding 5 weeks after miscarriage?

Hi!
My first post, so please bare with. I fell pregnant at the end of July, I was on the pill so it was unexpected. My partner and I have been together 4 years in January and are in our early 30’s, live together and both have good jobs and had talked about trying for a baby in the next 2 years so although not the perfect planned time for us we did start to get excited after the initial surprise. Mid october came and we attended our 12 week scan to be told ‘i’m sorry there is no heartbeat’, baby had stopped growing around 8-9 weeks. I chose to wait for things to happen naturally and light spotting/ bleeding started naturally within 24 hours, passed the pregnancy sac 3 days later - with our tiny little baby inside, with little eyes fingers and feet. THE worst time of my life.

Bleeding stopped within a week and pregnancy tests have been lightly positive over the past month but always about 10 minutes after taking them, not immediately (think it’s been in my head a lot of times and i’ve wanted to still keep seeing those 2 lines), but eventually got a proper negative last week.

Miscarriage started 5 weeks ago but i’ve now started getting very light pink spotting, more like light blood mixed in with discharge rather than fresh ‘period blood’ (sorry TMI). My partner and I have been having unprotected sex and just going by ‘if it happens, it happens’… Could this be implantation bleeding so soon after my miscarriage? I read that it wasn’t possible to ovulate/conceive until hCG levels had returned to 0 but not sure when exactly this could have been, discharge a week ago was very runny/ ‘ovulation discharge' (TMI again - sorry!) and we did do the deed during this time but am I getting ahead of myself thinking this could be a new pregnancy so soon?

Has this happened to anyone else where implantation-type bleeding has occurred 5 weeks post miscarriage and it been a new pregnancy without actually having a period inbetween?

Hi Rose, first of all so sorry for your loss. We had a similar story, went for our 12 week scan on 10th October to be told that the baby's heart had stopped around 10 weeks. The whole experience was so traumatic. I had surgical management and only really bled for a few days but it took almost 3 weeks for me to get a negative pregnancy test. I actually randomly bled a bit last week and had the same thought as you as to whether it was implantation as this had happened in our previous pregnancy. Turns out it wasn't but I'm still waiting for my period, I have absolutely no idea where I'm at in my cycle and just hoping things get back to normal soon. I've definitely heard of people getting pregnant again straight after a miscarriage so it could happen, fingers crossed for you xx

Hi @EmmaLou! Thanks so much for your reply, so so sorry to hear about your loss, although it’s an awful situation it’s comforting to hear from somebody in the same position. I do think it’s probably just the start of my period, I suppose at least if it is then that kind of ‘resets’ everything and gets me back to a bit of normality... but can’t help but hope. I’ve been trying to track LH levels to get an idea of when I’m going to ovulate but I know the tests can be completely off if I’ve still got preg hormones. LH is actually at the highest it’s been today after dropping the last few days which is bizarre with the bleeding too as I’m sure it usually drops near period but maybe it’s ovulation bleeding I’m getting - really no idea I suppose it could be anything !
