Weird cycles messing with conception?

I'm so fed up TTC for baby #2, I just want it so badly and I'm getting so disheartened each month it isn't happening.
I have got a drs appointment on Monday about this issue but would be nice to talk to anyone else in the same boat.
Basically I have really irregular cycles, my average cycle length is 35 days but can vary from like 30-47 days. My last two periods before this one lasted over 2 weeks (one was up to 18 days). I did do pregnancy tests incase of MC as have history with this but negative tests. I have been tracking my ovulation with OPKs and looking at CM and the last 4 cycles I have come on my period the DAY AFTER ovulation 😭 so seems like a really short Luteal phase.
This month I got two high OPKs but didn't get a peak and then AF came 2 days later but weirdly has been really light this month and I already seem to be coming off after only 5 days which is really unusual for me. I have done a few HPTs just incase but negative. After looking online I'm wondering if it was so light because I didn't actually ovulate this month? I'm starting BBT now to give me more insight on ovulation but I found it difficult to do when TTC #1 so will see how I go..
When TTC #1 I actually had similar problems with short LP and was due to have blood tests done when I found out I was pregnant. Typically it was the one month I didn't manage to track ovulation so have no idea what happened that month or how we managed it! I'm trying to feel positive that it will happen again but is so disheartening each time I start bleeding right after getting a positive OPK 🙁
Has anyone been in a similar position? Would love to hear from you if so. Going crazy over here 🙈 hopefully can get some bloods done and maybe get some answers soon! Also if anyone has any tips on how to prepare for Drs appt too that would be super helpful! Sorry for the essay. X

Have you been checked for peri menopause? Apparently this makes periods erratic. Doctor is the best way to go xx

Thank you for the reply. Not yet, this is my first appointment to discuss it. Will definitely ask the dr about it though, thanks. I am a bit worried as I have also had trouble sleeping recently and apparently that can be a sign.
Just to add I've been doing lots of googling tonight! And apparently it is fairly common to get an LH surge just before your period is due (who knew!), so maybe it is not actually ovulation. The weird thing is that I test through most of my cycle and it is only towards the end that I get more than a very faint line :S this month I'm going to test every day even when AF here and also try to BBT and will see what happens 🤞
Nervous for my drs appt on Monday though as I'm scared for bad news as I would love to have several more children 😔 I really hope it will be possible xx

Yes, me. I stopped checking for ovulation and just had sex every two days. It worked eventually!

Hi @Katnissx

Sorry to hear you’re having a tough time x

I think to be honest it sounds like you are not ovulating very much. Maybe not at all right now.

How long have you been trying and how old are you? This will really play a part in how your doctor reacts x

You may well not be ovulating, I wasn`t but clomid sorted it out for me. Do you have PCOS?

wonderstuff · 16/11/2019 23:34

I found the book 'Taking Charge of your Fertility' by Toni Weschler really helpful. I never did ovulation tests, but after reading this worked out that I wasn't always ovulating although I was bleeding every month. Good luck. Took 4 years after miscarriage to conceive my daughter and then my son arrived unplanned.

Thank you so much for all the replies! This was my first post on here and to be honest I wasn't expecting anyone to reply 🙈 I had been on a forum with a similar name and not many of my posts got replies, so it's lovely to see the community here!
To be honest I'm not sure how seriously I will be taken, I am 27 and we have been trying since my AF retuned after baby #1, so it has only been 5 months but it is more the weirdness of my cycles that was concerning me (not the length of time). Saying that my drs have been very good in the past so I hope they will be again.
I had general bloods done a while ago to check for thyroid issues but they were fine. I haven't had hormonal bloods done. When I had my first MC the ultrasonographer said my ovaries looked normal and I think I vaguely remember her saying it didn't look like I had PCOS. I'm not sure that's much to go on though! I've heard it can be a hard diagnosis?
I also wonder if I am actually ovulating, I will see if my dr can test for it. I think it will be difficult to have hormone tests done though as the timings have to be precise and my cycles are all over the place! X
