Hi I've taken a pg test and it's came back negative I've had really sensitive nipples and discolouration (sorry for tmi) been to docs and been told to take a pg test next week and keep redoing this every week until period comes or it shows up positive has anyone else had any advice like this? I've taken 2 pg tests both came back negative thanks!

If your period still hasn’t shown and your having negative tests ask to have blood drawn.

NicoleR14 · 15/11/2019 16:00

Does it show up better on a blood test?

Can do,I’m surprised your GP said to just keep taking tests.

The levels of hormones are easier to see in a blood test. How late are you?

NicoleR14 · 15/11/2019 18:01

I haven't had a period yet I have had spotting but nothing like a period a day here and there

Yeah but how late is your period? Have you missed one yet?

NicoleR14 · 15/11/2019 18:47

It says on my Callendar 5 days late last spotting I had was Monday 14th of October I haven't had a proper period since the rod was removed but did have small bit of spotting

If you've only just come off contraception it can take a while for your cycle to return. A late or absent period this soon after is pretty normal.
Leave it a week and take another test but if it's still negative I would like assume more pregnant and wait it out a bit longer for your cycle to settle.

NicoleR14 · 15/11/2019 19:24

I had thought you need to wait for a period to come to become pregnant but according to my doctor you don't need to take a period after having the rod removed it's all very confusing!

When did you have contraception removed? Is the rod the implant? If it’s hormonal then it can take a while for your cycles to settle but there is also of course a chance of getting pregnant straight away if you do ovulate quickly

NicoleR14 · 15/11/2019 19:37

Yes it was the rod I had removed the doctor told me my fertility would start working straight away I explained to her I had spotting for one day but nothing since and she had said that's all it takes so I'm not entirely sure

Fertility could come back straight away but not for everyone.

It took me three months for my cycle to get back to some normality but it can take up to a year for some.

Hormonal contraception can really throw things out of whack. My first cycle after removal was 50 days long.

NicoleR14 · 15/11/2019 21:56

It really does put you all over the place especially when ttc lol hoping everything starts to go back to normal soon!

NicoleR14 reading your comments its like your writing my exact story. So just jumping on this post.... i had my implant out 9th October, spotting on the 2nd november, done 2 tests and 2 negatives 😩 no periods either. X

NicoleR14 · 15/11/2019 23:07

@abwebbs I'm so there with you! Had mines out on the 7th October had spotting on 14th no period since! 4 negative tests and having symptoms all my doctor can tell me it's either early signs of pregnancy or waiting game for my period 😩

OP posts:
CAG12 · 16/11/2019 07:45

Its hard because the signs of your period coming and the signs of early pregnancy can be the same!

NicoleR14 · 16/11/2019 09:57

It can and it's very hard to tell the difference but fingers crossed it is early signs of pregnancy🤞🏼

OP posts:
CAG12 · 16/11/2019 10:17
