DTD Frequency and Sperm Quality

Hello, would anyone be able to share any advice/experience on the frequency of sex that lead to a BFP?

There’s a lot of conflicting information out there with how often to have sex and sperm quality etc. and I’m a bit lost/confused.

Last cycle was the first time we DTD successfully the day before and on the day of predicted ovulation but, no BFP. All the cycles before hand we’ve either successfully DTD the day before ovulation or two days before ovulation. I therefore believed every cycle since June we’ve been in with at least a shot - so now I need to change tactics as this is clearly wrong.

I’m on CD7 now and I’ve been getting my peak/static smiley face on CB digital OPK’s around CD’s 13/14 on average. My fertile window is hopefully coming up again soon and I think this Thurs-Sat/Sun will be the key fertile days.

I don’t know if we should DTD from tomorrow, every other day or every day from this Thurs-Sat/Sun?

Even if you have sex at the right time, you've only got a 20% chance of conceiving each month, so it can take time statistically.

In terms of whether you need to "save up" sperm before having sex, it all depends on your partners age/sperm quality, etc

I found that if I pressured him into DTD then the amount of sperm was lower than if we just let it happen spontaneously, which is more fun anyway.

After a few months of being ruled by a calendar with no success we relaxed and I conceived quickly.

If you DTD every other day from around day 8 to after you ovulate then there theoretically should always be sperm waiting for the egg. If you are only doing it the day before ovulation if the sperm is slow it might not get to the egg in time. Google’the sperm meets egg plan’ and good luck!

I conceived first month of TTC, unfortunately lead to MC but for us what we did was DTD every other day and then 7 days in a row around where we thought OV was (I don't use OPKs so wasn't 100% sure) and then had a break of a day or two then went back to every other day.

I believe that you basically want to keep dtd EOD ahead of ovulation to keep the sperm fresh - if they go more than 3 days without 'release' then they are old and less likely to make it to the egg. As long as he has no fertility issues, there is nothing wrong with dtd every day either, some people think this causes issues, but that's only if he already has low motility/ sperm count, then you would need to 'save them up' but only for 2 or 3 days.
I try to follow SMEP, so dtd every other day after period until peak/ positive OPK then Every day for three days, skip a day then once more for luck!
Not worked so far but this is month 3 following a Mc so fairly early days still.

Good luck!
