smoking before conceiving

Hello,
i have a question about my dh to have smoked before conceiving.... I am now 6 weeks pregnant. My dh is not a smoker but sometimes in stressfull moments at his work, he smokes a cigaret. A month before conceiving he smoked 5-6 cigarettes a day and now i am worried that this might effect the baby. So he only smoked for one month.
I read a lot on the internet about the damaging effects on sperm when men smokes. I am worried that if my baby gets sick that the smoking will have something to do with that... I know it sounds crazy but if my child at some point in his/her life gets very sick, could this be the cause?

I don't think you need to worry. With my first baby I didn't know I had conceived and smoked 1 or 2 cigarettes myself due to high stress. When I got my BFP I was worried right up until my scan that I had harmed my baby in some way. Then with my second baby which was a complete surprise to me, I was religiously taking the pill plus had a few drinks for my birthday before finding out I was pregnant, and again was terrified right up until my scan. So some smoking from your DH won't have caused damage like that. You will be surprised how resilient sperm and eggs and lil life forms are!

Forgot to mention both my babies in perfect health, not a thing was wrong!! So baby will be fine 😊

Isn’t it the sperm count they are referring to when they say smoking affects sperm?
