When is best to test?

AF is due on Friday (think I'm about 12DPO according to tracking) and I told myself I'd wait until after to test after having a particularly obsessive month last month, convinced it was my month and wasting quite a few tests... but I have a couple of FRER in my draw and the temptation is real. What would people recommend, should I wait? If I was to test now can I trust the result? (If its negative can i trust that I'm not pregnant)
This is only about my 3/4 month of trying after a couple of mouths of 'let's just see what happens' so I'm still getting into the swing of things, any advice would be greatly received, thanks in advance

I personally prefer to wait for AF. There's a pretty reliable, natural and free pregnancy test right there! Lots of people test early though. With frers that could get expensive...

@skyla01 that what I was hoping to do but I really struggle with the temptation

You're right, you probably should wait as yes you can get false negatives if you test too early. However I'm like you, soo impatient and just want to know. Hence I bought a load of cheap internet strips that I use to satisfy my testing needs! Tests are expensive aren't they! Doesn't really help but makes me feel a bit better anyway x

@MrsF94 I think next month I will do the same. I only bought test this early so I could get them a bit cheaper by buying them online and they get here in time for after AF. I even made a deal with my fiancé that i would wait... I have 2 so I might do one now and save one... next month I think I'll buy cheap one and avoid anything else until something shows on a cheap test

I know that feeling all too well! But you're not out yet. Just hold out til the end of the week x

@lostfrequencies it's so disheartening, think I probably will be out this month...

OP - you are me!!!
We’re TTC baby no2, I know I’m due on (or around) Friday, I have one FRER left in the draw and I can’t bare to wait 😫
I did a cheap strip test earlier to try and satisfy the itch, and I had a BFN too 🙁
So hard not to feel disheartened by it all.. try and keep positive, there’s still time! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I tested 5 days after my period should've being due. Sometimes it's off by a week but I had horrendous fatigue, my boobs were throbbing to the point I was nearly crying from the pain and I was so moody. Even more so than normal. I took the test not actually thinking anything would show up but got a strong positive. Of course I didn't believe it and ended up taking another 36 during the course of 9 weeks. Sadly that Pregnancy ended in our 4th loss, and the super strong lines that I thought meant a good strong healthy pregnancy meant nothing really cos Baby stopped growing around 7 weeks
