Trying to conceive and stop/start period

My husband and I are very lucky to have a son together but trying for a second and it’s not happening.

Since having my son (emergency c-section 2.5yrs ago) my periods haven’t been the same. They are regular which is good. Around the 1st of every month I get a light bleed, then stop for about two days then get a ‘proper’ period for 4 or 5 days. I feel like i’m on my period for about 10 days! This happens every month. I don’t get much pain.

We do ovulation calendars based on the two different bleed dates but still no luck!

Has anyone else experienced this stop/start period and whether it’s affected you trying to conceive?

I also get nauseous and recently I had a blocked nipple (I haven’t breastfed for 2 years!)

I have docs on Friday and will ask him to look at hormone levels.

It’s so upsetting because it’s like an implantation bleed but always get a big fat negative! Any similar experiences?

We have just started trying this cycle for #2. I had severe birth trauma but my cycles came back normal ish about 6 months pp even though i was still BF'ing. Then we had a whoopsy in feb and MC in March of which i stopped Bf'ing at the same time. My cycles have been all over the place since!
Spotting for days, then period, spotting for days after (luckily the mid cycle spotting has stopped!) and they range 25-33 days (based one actual 'period' ignoring the spotting.

I'm terrified it's going to take us months for that exact reason!

How long have you been trying and have you tried Ovulation test?

We’ve only been trying properly for 6 months. I know that’s not long compared to many and it is a case of keep trying but finding it so hard as conceived within 2 months of trying with #1 so every period is now a disappointment.

I’m worried what the spotting could mean plus i’m 36 years old. Have been using ovulation sticks and apps.

So sorry to hear of your MC. Really hope #2 happens for you soon.

NHS are good and say try 2 to 3 days rather than use all the apps to stop feeling the pressure. We might try that this month.

I’ll repost once I know more from my doctor! And will keep trying!
