Hi there. Just wondering if others out there are ttc naturally in their 40s? There are some older threads, but just hoping to connect with others who are trying now Smile I have just turned 45 and gave been ttc all year with no luck. I have two sons aged 18 and 16, so not sure if it will happen but haven't given up hope just yet!

I'm 40, oh is 39, been together 4 years ttc our first. I'm 7dpo on our 2nd full cycle

Mystie · 26/10/2019 18:22

@Vintagemum74 @claireb707 hi ladies, I'm 43 first cycle trying after MMC and D&C on 8 October. Already have 3 older children (18,12 and 11) from previous relationship. Been with current partner (26) for 15 months really hoping it happens again for us and this time I won't miscarry. Trying not to obsess to much think I'm around 3/4 dpo planning on testing next Friday 1/11 af due on the 6/11 although tbh with D&C so recently I'm not holding out much hope this month. Really happy to meet older mums on here, great to hear from you both!

avocadoincident · 26/10/2019 19:55

I'm 40 in December and will be trying to conceive after a mc last week at 20 weeks. Just need some recovery time first b
We have a 19 year old and an 18 month old.

Good luck to all of us

Mystie · 26/10/2019 20:16

@avocadoincident so sorry to hear about your recent loss, can't imagine how hard that must be for you and your oh. Sending love and hugs, great to have you here with us. Hope we can all be a support for each other on this stressful journey whatever stage we are at x

avocadoincident · 26/10/2019 21:07

Thanks I'm looking for a positive thread to inspire me. X

Vintagemum74 · 27/10/2019 05:22

I'm so sorry to hear what you've just been through avocadoincident. I hope you're ok. Big hugs x And to you too Mystie. It's amazing what women do! Hi Claireb too. Nice to have you guys to chat with along the way.
I'm 14 dpo today and have had approx 3 days of really really light spotting (if you could even call it that). I guess it is a slow starting period but there's always the agoinising- could it be implantation..? Right before it started I felt really nauseous too.. Good to keep our spirits up girls Smilexx

@Vintagemum74 fingers crossed it is implantation bleeding and you get a BFP soon, are you going to do a test or wait it out? I'm exhausted of the whole process already and I haven't even done one cycle. I don't know how people do this for years it must be so difficult! Hope you all have a lovely Sunday. I'm going to a christening which will be nice, at least I can have a glass of wine! X

Mystie · 27/10/2019 18:33

Hi ladies hope you're all had a nice weekend. I got some cramping last night and started bleeding lightly today. Was hopeful that it could be IB as am only 18 days post d&c and didn't think af would appear this early but it's definitely to heavy to be IB. Feel so deflated. After reading so many positive stories about women falling before their first cycle I really thought it might happen for us. Having the pain and seeing blood again has really brought all the pain back. Feeling very sorry for myself 😢

avocadoincident · 28/10/2019 10:28

@Mystie How disappointing but with the start of a period comes the start of new hope and also a clear dating point.

Mystie · 28/10/2019 12:57

@avocadoincident thanks lovely, feeling better today. Ordered the Ava bracelet which I'm looking forward to using, the reviews have been encouraging and won't miss peeing on a stick all month!!

avocadoincident · 28/10/2019 18:11

That's sounds interesting. What is it?

Mystie · 28/10/2019 18:23

@avocadoincident digital bracelet that you wear at night and it tracks your temp and other things to give you an accurate ovulation prediction on the app which is synced to the bracelet. It costs £249 so isn't cheap but then neither are OPKS!

avocadoincident · 28/10/2019 18:26

Wow it sounds amazing, let us know how you get on with it

Mystie · 28/10/2019 18:40

@avocadoincident of course! Fingers crossed it works and I won't need it for long 🤞🏼I do love a gadget and an app, will be interesting to see how it works

avocadoincident · 28/10/2019 19:56

I used a fertility app for my last two pregnancies just to monitor dates and within three cycles I was pregnant both times. There was some weeing on sticks though the second time

Vintagemum74 · 28/10/2019 20:23

Hi girls. Sorry to hear about af arriving Mystie. It's such a rollercoaster this process but cool you've got the gadget! I haven't used anything other than opk's (but not every month as got sick of them!). Nos (after 9 months I'm thinking I should have made more effort...) Still awaiting af though and am 15 dpo.. fingers crossed Smile Hey just out of interest do you guys drink caffeine? I do - as found it too hard to cut out completely! Feeling paranoid about it due to my age and just wondered how staunch others are being? Grin

I'm drinking caffeine and alcohol

lumpy76 · 28/10/2019 21:09

@avocadoincident hope you are doing as well as can be expected at this time. Sending you love. When you feel strong enough to try again I'd be fairly confident you will be ok. So so sorry again for what you've been through xx

I'm nearly 44. I had a mmc at 39 and then a successful pregnancy at 40 (I have older child conceived in my 20s and 30s). In the last yr I've had another mmc and 2 mc's. The last one being 9 weeks ago at 8.5 weeks. Getting pregnant doesn't seem to be my problem - but clearly something is not right from there.

avocadoincident · 29/10/2019 03:56

@lumpy76 you must be an incredibly strong woman to keep going through all of this. What an inspiration you are!

Whats your secret?

shinyblackdog · 29/10/2019 04:18

Hi ladies, you may find the following long-running thread useful:

I joined about 18 months ago following a miscarriage and a TFMR and conceived DD2 at 40 (currently up feeding her). It's a lovely, supportive group. Best of luck with your ttc journeys.

Vintagemum74 · 29/10/2019 06:53

Thank you @shinyblackdog. Will check it out. So lovely hearing your up feeding DD2 x

Vintagemum74 · 29/10/2019 06:59

Thanks @Mystie. I'm still waiting it out.. I've done a lot of testing too soon over the year, so trying to be patient Grin

@lumpy76 what a journey you have been on, and a reminder to me to be patient and accepting! Flowers
