Has anyone experienced pregnancy medical services in Luton?

Hi all!

I am in need of some decent advice (I know Mumsnet is the place to go). The 'trying for a baby' urge has hit me hard and I'm all ready to go but I have recently moved to Luton and don't know if anyone else has had a baby at Luton & Dunstable hospital. Does anyone have any stories - good or bad to share with me? This will be my first baby and Im scared enough as it is so any advice would be excellant!!!

I have had a three under them, though only delivered one at the actual hospital. I think the obstetric/maternity care there is the only decent thing about the hospital tbh (or it was when I last gave birth 3 1/2 years ago) Mr Griffiths was my consultant, excellent chap.

Lou33 - thanks so much for your advice!

You are welcome. I don't know what part of Luton you are in, but I found the midwife ante natal care to be great as well. Fantastic ladies.

Im over near Leagrave station if that helps - any advise on who I should ask for? Is it true that all midwives are scary women?

I was in Bushmead, so it would be a different midwife team I think. I had the same midwives for 2 pregnancies, and they were lovely. Not scary at all. I think , as in every profession, there is always someone you don't get on with, but on the whole they were great. One of the nurses in the post natal ward was a pita though, but that's a single person in a whole team. I would try and get Malcolm Griffiths for your consultant though, he was brilliant.
