Hi, I'm new here & just looking for some advice as I slowly drive myself crazy. Been TTC for about 10 months - 1 year now. Was super regular but had a miscarriage in April & since then periods are all over the place. Been having acupuncture to try to help this & yesterday had full blood tests done which I'm waiting for the results of. Getting ready for this months ovulation madness & honestly, I don't know when it's happening. I tried 2 months ago to track with the Clearblue sticks, but then when I got a flashy & a solid smiley, I realised I didn't know whether it meant to go for it then, that it's already happened or it's happening in a few days.
So this last month I forgot the sticks and we went with the 'every 2 days' approach that I always hear is foolproof, but it didn't work. (I've also been advised that it should be every 3 days, but someone else that it should be 2 so I went safe with 2).
Just wondering how often other ppl are going for, too often & the sperm aren't so strong to break the egg, but not often enough & there are no sperm waiting to meet the egg!
Bonus points if anyone knows what to do once the faces start appearing on the sticks?!

Hiya, no good on how often but 're the smiley faces...do you have the advanced one? If so the flashing smiley mean there is a rise in you oestrogen levels...which happens before ovulation...this can continue for a few days (I had 10 days...But that's a lot longer than most and longer than my last time). Once you have your solid static smiley, it means it has detected your LH surge and ovulation usually happens around 24/48 hours after. I think the idea is to DTD when you have flashing as well as static as it can leave for around 5 days...So will heighten your chances!! I think after the 48 hours the egg would have dropped...xx

Thanks for the answer Ceebee. Yeah I have the advanced one. So once you start getting the flashing, what's the right frequency to go for? Every day? Every other? Every 3?!

Hi! So frustrating for you.. I'd recommend reading up on agnus castus.

I didn't ovulated for around 5 months after coming off the pill and so I started taking it and within 6 weeks got my bfp could gave been a fluke but I'm sure it wasn't.

Deffo recommend having a read on it

Ohh thanks for the tip MrsCl19! I hadn't heard of agnus cactus but just had a little read and it definitely sounds worth trying. I'll try to get hold of some.

Congrats with your BFP :)

The best thing we did was stop using the ovulation predictor strips.
It worked, I think because we were more relaxed. We actually DTD because we fancied it!

ceebee21 really sorry to hear that, it's so difficult going through a miscarriage. Sending you lots of hugs. Happy to hear your every day worked, maybe I'll just try every day once the face starts flashing!
