Help! Chemical pregnancy?

Hi ladies, I'm new and I came here as I'm very confused about my symptoms. It's only month 2 of TTC so I was hoping someone more experienced could help.
I had some period-like cramping a week ago, then it stopped. I thought it could have been implantation cramps.
On Sunday I did a pregnancy test and it was a faint positive. Today I did another one and it's a very definite, much darker blue line. BUT, I also had some light spotting a few hours ago, and my period is due today (no actual period has come so far though).
I've read up on implantation bleeding, but I'd have thought it would come together with the cramps, not a week apart?
Could it be a chemical pregnancy even though the pregnancy hormone seems to be rising?

Hi, what a worrying time.

It doesn’t sound like a chemical, very possibly IB or early pregnancy spotting. Is it brown or red?

I had bleeding in both successful pregnancies, but also for my CP.

It’s hard to tell at this stage and unfortunately there is little you can do other than wait.

You could also visit your GP if you’re in any discomfort.

Hope all works out Flowers

Thanks for the reply....turned out it was a yeast infection causing the spotting (it wasn't even proper blood, just some pink-ish discharge...sorry, maybe TMI)
The doc said it was because of the hormone changes and gave me stuff for it. She said if my period is late and the pregnancy tests say positive then I'm pregnant...and that there's not much to do but wait until my first midwife appointment at 12 weeks and just take it easy in the meantime. Still in shock and not allowing myself to get excited in case something does go wrong.

That's just what I'd come to suggest! I've been plagued by yeast infections my whole pregnancy and it causes what looks like spotting. Scary at first but I'm used to it now. Wishing you all the best with the rest of your pregnancy!

Thank you! Wishing you all the best too. Guess I'll just have to play the waiting game now. Feels like such an eternity to have to wait!

Fine, I think...had a bit of a panic today as my boobs weren't as sore as before and I wasn't bloated...I thought I'd done some damage as I had a long hot shower yesterday, then read that you're not supposed to overheat yourself. Boobs are back to being sore now though and no worrying symptoms, so I'm trying to relax :D
