Do both lines on the opk need to be dark for it to be positive? Tonight I felt like I might get a positive on it at last as I have some egg white CM. Sure enough there is a line in both windows but they are both still faded but easy to see.
I’d add a pic only I can’t as I’m a new poster

Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

Good luckThanksThanks

Hi! The test line needs to be as dark or darker than the control line for it to be positive. You will usually always have 2 lines on an ovulation test, completely different to the way a pregnancy test works. I'll post a few pics of mine so you can see x

Negative, almost positive (but still negative) then positive. Test line is the first line and control line is the second (closest to the green part) you can see all of them have lines but on the last pic the first line (test line) is darker than the second line (control line). Hope that helps. X

Thanks @bluetue for the good luck wishes, it is definitely hard at the start!

@eastview thanks for clarifying that, it must have been negative so. I did 5 opk over the last week and I always got a dark line in the control window and nothing in the other window until last night when I got the two. God knows what’s going on with my body so! I’ll know better for next month!

@Plaw yes the control line should always be dark it's just to show you that the test is working properly. Are you in your fertile window yet? Some people don't always get 2 lines but the test line will always be as dark or darker than the control line if it's a positive. If it's your fertile window it might be best to OPK test twice a day (not first morning urine if you can help it, do morning then afternoon). My tests were all within 36 hours of eachother and the next morning you could barely see the test line so if you're not testing enough you may miss your peak! I bulk buy mine on amazon! Best of luck xx

@eastview sounds like I may have missed it! I tested in the evening each time. I was using babystart tests I got online.
We dtd a good few times during this week so I guess we won’t know until AF does/doesn’t arrive. Never realised how much I wanted it until I researched all this stuff!

I know @Plaw it's so easy to get wrapped up in it and obsess over it (like I do) it's totally normal! As long as you dtd during that window then don't worry about missing your peak on a test. Fingers crossed for you this month but if not definitely test multiple times next month! Good luck! X
