Cycle day number after miscarriage

Hi all,

I’m new to mumsnet and hoping for some advice. I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage last week, I was 11 weeks 😢, it started on the Friday and I bled all weekend then went for a second scan on the Monday but they told me I needed an operation to remove the ‘products of conception’. I had the MVA on the Tuesday. The midwife told me there was no reason to wait ttc but I am confused as to whether day one of my cycle would be the day the bleeding started or the day of the operation. Two people have told me it’s the day of the operation but I have read online it’s when bleeding started. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks xxx

I don't know the answer but I didn't want to read and run...sorry for your loss x

Sorry for your loss. I would say from the day you started bleeding. My 1st mc I got my period 29 days after the bleeding started so was only really a day out. Have just went through my 2nd mc and I expect to be nearly on time again although it can and does vary. Some women it can take up to 6 weeks for a real period to return.

Sorry for your loss, going through similar at the moment, miscarriage at 7 weeks started yesterday...
How much pain were you in? It's surprised me how painful it is.
In answer to your question I think it varies person to person, I'm going to let everything normalize until I gety next period then use ovulation tests as who knows how different it will be

I always found the first cycle after MC quite tospy turvy and I didn't ovulate for quite a while (was using daily OPKS) Sometimes I had mid cycle spotting too. Each time, after the next period, it seemed to click back into "normal mode" and I concieved again right away.

All bodies are different.

I’m so sorry crumbsinthecarpet, it’s awful isn’t it. I had quite a lot of pain and then bled way too much so ended up going to a and e.

I have been doing the ovulation sticks this week but no positive yet, don’t really no if I trust them. If I fall this month then I see it as a bonus but I think you’re right calamityjune next month should be easier it just seems such a long way away when you want something so badly 😔
