Starting TTC ovulation tests

Right, so I am 34 and dp and I have decided to start ttc first baby in the new year (house move etc before) have been tracking my cycle and have been using clear blue digital fertility monitor for the past 4 months to get to know my cycle and when I ovulate. It has been showing positive LH surges and peak days on days 12-14 pretty consistently. Does anyone have any experience with these tests? How reliable are they? My cycle is between 26 and 30 days and I’m also a bit worried that the difference in cycle length will make it more difficult to get pregnant? I’ve just started taking folic acid as well. I’m just looking for a bit of advice/reassurance really

@Jammydogger my cycle varies between 26-28 days and I use clear blue opks I usually get a static between cycle day 13 & 15 so I think you sound completely normal my only advise would be not to wait until the new year
I wish I'd started earlier because it's taking longer than I naively expected x

@mrssunshinexxx thank you for your response 😁 Generally my cycle is around 26/27 days and I have only had one cycle that was 30 days. Waiting does worry me slightly as I’m not getting any younger but we are moving house in December and I also have a 2 stone I want to lose before ttc (have already lost 2) so was thinking a few months more isn’t going to do any harm.

If the ovulation tests show that you have ovulated does that mean that you definitely have or is it not guaranteed?

Hey @Jammydogger December is only a couple months away I suppose well done on the weight loss it's really impressive and will surely help with conceiving x
I would say it's guaranteed because it's to do with your HCG levels if you weren't ovulating it would stay as blank circle or just flashing I get ovulation pains so there is no doubt X

Hiya! Ovulation tests will go positive before you ovulate. Usually 12-36 hours before! It is ideal to dtd every other day leading up to positive opk and then 3 days in a row once you get your positive opk. Best of luck! Also good luck with the house move. Some very exciting life changes for you 😊. Does your folic acid have vit d added to it? If not I would get this. Boots do it 😊. Also try to avoid certain lubes. There are special fertility lubes but these are expensive so your choice it you use them!

Thanks, I think I might just be over thinking? Thank you for reassuring me that I am actually ovulating - only one of my friends has kids so none of my friends have been through the ttc and ovulation drama - fingers crossed everything moves quickly 🤞

@MsChatterbox thanks for your response - yes its all change for us over the next few months! We are moving to our forever (hopefully) home. Yes it does have vit d 😁 I’m just trying to prepare myself in the beat possible way - very exciting even just planning ttc

I would say you couldn't possibly be anymore prepared than you already are!! The only thing I would add is try not to get sucked into the early testing wormhole lol!!

I second that it's soul destroying! @Jammydogger @MsChatterbox
