TTC & Future Planning

We started our TTC journey in May this year and have had no luck as of yet.
We are considering booking a holiday abroad for May 2020, possibly Turkey, as we haven't treated ourself to a holiday in 3 years.
Im hoping that booking a holiday will give us something else to focus on and reduce the pressures we are putting on ourselves. However I am also conscious that if we are Lucky enough to conceive, whether timings will work with the holiday dates etc.

Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appeciated 😊

Hi OP, a holiday sounds lovely. Just moving this up the boards for you to make sure people see it.

@HSunflower we’re in the same position. Started TTC in June but nothing yet. I kind of think of it as you can’t stop your life for this type of thing so I’d book away and then worry about if you conceive by then when it actually happens. In theory if you haven’t conceived yet but it did happen in the next month or so LO would be arriving July/August if it did happen like that and you didn’t want to go away would you be able to get any money back or would you be prepared to lose it? You could also try booking stuff separately and hotels with free cancellation so if you didn’t go then all you’d lose is the cost of the flight. You could also wait and try and get a cheap last minute deal.
We’ve just booked a big holiday for April next year as we want something to look forward to if we’re still TTC by then but we’re booking stuff with free cancellation just in case!

Think @Banoffeepie91's response is very wise. We have been TTC for 15 months and have put off lots of stuff (including holidays) because of it. You can't put your life on hold as you just don't know what the future holds. But if there is an option to cancel, that's ideal.

Thank you ladies for all your advice 💛
I think we are just going to book the holiday and even if we are lucky enough to fall pregnant soon, we should still be able to go.
If there are complications we will have insurance and hopefully would be reimbursed if we have to cancel.

Everyone's TTC journey is different, and we could still be trying this time next year, so we are trying not to put our lives on hold.

Thanks again xx

We had almost the same dilemma but back to front! As we have a holiday booked for summer 2020 and originally planned to start ttc after that... But the broodiness has really set in and we don't want to wait that long, especially knowing it may take us a while to get that BFP. So we have compromised and decided to start trying around March so that if we get lucky I should still be able to go 😊

Hope that you enjoy your holiday and maybe even have a little one along for the ride by then! 🤞🏻
