Coil out today

Hi, I’m having my coil out today so me and my partner can start “causally” trying. I’m not telling any friends or family as I don’t want the pressure and constant questions.

Anyone have any words of wisdom for starting this crazy journey!?

I found it helpful to start bbt tracking my cycles after my coil was removed as I had no idea how long they would be having been on contraception for over 10 years. Also don’t be surprised if your first cycle is really long and they don’t regulate for a bit. My first was 40 days but they seemed to have settled down to 28 now after 4 months. Checked with my gp and she said this was completely normal.

Yea I came off hormonal contraceptives about a year ago and went on copper coil so I should be at a fairly stable cycle now (took a while when first came off them!)
Now it’s to try and forget about it and not become obsessed with TTC...

Be prepared!

I know they tell you you're fertile straight away but seriously, I was pregnant 8 days after I had my copper coil out 😂

Kayleigh0713 · 11/10/2019 21:16

First time I had my coil out I found out 5 weeks later I was expecting (I only had my coil in 3 months first time round though)

This time I had my coil in for 3 and half years. And had no periods for 2 years. I had it removed on 13th August had a 3 day bleed on 24th August then 25 days later had a really heavy period. I'm really unsure on when my cycle is. If its 25 days then Im due today but no sign of AF as of yet.

Good luck! Ovulation test really helped me this month because my cycles are irregular so I would recommend them.

All the best of luck x

Thanks all!

I have been feeling nauseous for last few days and boobs sore etc. I may be overthinking it but we had sex just before my copper coil was removed and I started ovulating the day after that... I have read that you can get pregnant from sex before the coil was removed as the sperm survives for about a week.... I’m probably over thinking it!

I got pregnant in the same cycle as having my copper coil removed too. No hormones etc so certainly possible.

meow1989 · 24/10/2019 23:06

I had my copper coil removed, had a month of "not trying not preventing" and fell the month we did try so fertility can definitely be ready to go! Are you taking vitamins already?

ScaredFlamingo · 25/10/2019 08:32

Yea taking all the vitamins! I’ve heard stories of people getting pregnant really quick after copper coil; just hope I end up being one of them!
Now We’ve made the decision to try and I’ve had the coil out I just wanna get on with it haha!
