OPK Advice & Tips please

TTC for 18 months but quite new to OPKs.

I'm using the easy@home tests from Amazon and recording on the Premom app.

I usually test when I get in from work (about 6pm). Missed my opportunity to BBT this morning so thought I'd do an extra OPK (not FMU, but much earlier in the day than usual). Got a good surge at lunch time but it is falling this afternoon.

Considering that I've identified my surge, should I keep using the OPKs in the TWW, or is that just a waste of tests?

If there is only one opportunity to DTD, is it best on the day of the surge or the day after?

Is it normal that the surge is so short (I'd have missed this if I was in work today!)?

Any other tips or advice on OPKs?

Hi OP, I usually test once a day in the lead up to my surge but when I get a peak I'll test 2 or 3 times a day. I can have a + at mid day then by 5pm it's gone, don't know if that helps at all. I'm sure the recommendation is DTD every other day in the lead up to peak and then if you can every day over peak and possibly after. Good luck!

It can be 24-36 hours after the surge that you ovulate, then the egg has a lifespan of 12-24 hours once release. So you have a window, not just a surge then it's over.

Sperm can also live for a few days so if you can DTD in the run up, then over your window you increase your chances. It's also possible to miss the surge of yours is shorter and you don't catch it with a test.

If you're temping too it's always better to have a reading for every day as much as possible to get a good baseline as it's possible to have an LH surge but that doesn't mean you did actually ovulate to seeing that temp shift confirms it for you.

This is today's chart... high (but not peak) on OPK, but BBT was really low.

Using two different apps (premom & flo) both are saying that ovulation is today.

Was really hoping for sone extra DTD but have only managed once due to DP's work. Trying not to be an unreasonable nag 😞
