Hi ladies ,

I’ve finally had my IUD removed today after some trouble with the strings (thanks to those of you for your advise on my last post!)

My husband and I had unprotected sex Monday this week and last night , and I had it removed today . I was told by the Dr that it is possible to get pregnant if you have sex less than 7 days before removal of the coil due to the sperm lasting up to a week .
Just wondering , if we continue as we are , how quickly have you ladies conceived post iud removal ? I don’t really understand all these ovulation test things and stuff like that . I’ve not had a period in three years as the coil seemed to stop any bleeding , so I have no idea really when I’m due . I’ve had spotting but never a full blown bleed (sorry tmi) like I used to every month as a teenager .
I’ve bought some ovulation strips today but I don’t know whether to just relax and go with the Flow and not worry about monitoring ovulation, the tests are bloomin expensive ! . We really want children and been waiting for so long to get things going so I guess I want to hear your success stories !

Thanks
X

I'm in exactly the same position. I've had a mirena since 2006! And I've not had a period in all that time. I have no idea of my cycles and don't know where to begin.

PeanuttyButter · 28/09/2019 21:05

Same but I've had a Mirena since 2010 and was on the pill from 2003 before that. Previous to that only had 12 months of periods as a teenager as I was a late starter. Not a clue what a real period feels like either...

I had an absolute nightmare getting my mirena removed last year - and in the end it was in over 5 years so I started getting periods again - but in the end we conceived within two months of it being removed ☺️

Good luck!

I got caught the first month of having my coil removed, sadly ended in MC but it can happen super quickly. I bought a cbfm- as like you I didn't have periods so was unsure when I'd ovulate. Good luck ❤️ xx

krazipan · 28/09/2019 22:20

Was the cbfm worth it @Elles1980? How does it work? I have no idea when to even expect my period...I feel lost 😂

Elles1980 · 28/09/2019 22:48

@krazipan yeah I'd say it's 100% worth it. You just poas when it tells you too until you reach peak days. Same as ovulation sticks but it has the capacity to hold 6 months cycles.light purple days are low days (low fertility) then high days and then purple smiley peak days. The little pink love hearts are when dtd. As you can see from one of the pictures IV ovulated different each month since resetting after my MC so Without it is have no idea. The sticks are expensive also but I stop testing once IV ovulated as I know so there's no need to keep testing xx

Thanks@Elles1980 ...I'm going to get one! It might help me work out what's going on!

That’s given me some hope thank you @JesskerM ! Did you have a period before ? I’m so impatient I just want it to happen now ! We’ve had sex a few times now since having it removed and also before it was removed in that week , but we’ve read that so I it every other day is almost guaranteed to work all being well . It’s so hard not knowing where I am and I literally think about being pregnant all day it’s horrible !! I started some spotting yesterday so I’m not sure if that’s implantation spotting or potential period ? I’ve had an agonising headache and bloating so it’s most possibly AF ? Idk it’s so hard ! I was on the pill as a teenager as I started my periods late (I was 15 almost), and they were so heavy that they put me on the pill , I met my now husband when I was 19, got the coil at 20 to be a bit safer . So I don’t even know where AF is each month at all . But my nanna has told me she had her coil out back in the day , didn’t wait for a period and got pregnant that month .
I hate the unknown ! @Elles1980 idk if I can afford £87 to get that, although it sounds amazing . My husband wouldn’t be impressed lol
@PeanuttyButter it’s hard isn’t it

@Itsemily Yeah I had started to get a cycle before I had mine out, I didn't have AF for years but the mirena has been in more than 5 years (😳) so I had a bit of an idea of what my cycle would be like.

DH and I had decided that for a few months we wouldn't really TTC, we just didn't try to prevent it, so I'm not much use on that but sorry!
