Ways to cheer ourselves up when TTC

Do you have any ways to keep things light and fun or just ways to cheer yourself up if it’s not your month?

I’m finding planning things to do each month, even if it’s just dinner with a friend, helps. I also like the idea of treating myself to a massage every couple of months until I (hopefully) get pregnant. I think having other things to focus on is key.

Hello! I tried to make sure me and OH had something to look forward to at least once or twice a month (normally strategically planned around AF time). Then we seem to be working towards the event rather than our lives revolving around my menstrual cycle haha..
Good luck my lovely x

Thanks @CharlieB93. I think that’s a really good way of doing it. Good luck to you too x

We’ve booked a big holiday for next year. If we’re not pregnant by then we have something to look forward to. If we are and too far gone to go then we’ll be so happy that we’re actually having a baby anyway then we’ll just have to lose the money on the flights but I think of if as win win either way.

That’s a good way of looking at it @Banoffeepie91 I feel like I can’t plan a holiday as I don’t think I’d want to go abroad if I were pregnant. Maybe you’d get your money back for flights anyway if you can’t travel? I am booking a UK holiday for us for Christmas though.

@ReeRi I don’t think we will end up going if I am pregnant but it’s a holiday we’ve both wanted to go on for ages and will be kicking ourselves next year if we’re still TTC and had put of booking anything because of this. Don’t think we’d get money back from reading up on stuff like this but like I said at least we’ve got something to look forward to if it hasn’t happened by then.

Also thinking of suggesting to OH that we have something fun planned every month around the time AF is due. We both enjoy nice meals out at restaurants we’ve not tried before so I might make a list of different places and we can try one each month.

@Banoffeepie91 Yeah I understood what you meant. Like I said I think it’s a good way of looking at it. I’d probably be the same - wouldn’t care about losing some money if it was because I was pregnant. I just thought maybe if you couldn’t travel they’d refund you. I agree it’s more depressing to put things off just in case.

Meals are a good idea. I’m looking at what’s on at the theatre and comedy shows, that sort of thing, too.

@ReeRi I hadn’t thought of the theatre or a comedy show, that’s a really good idea. Might have a look as well Smile.

@Banoffeepie91 There are some good things on coming up to Christmas usually 🙂

We went to a music festival last month and that was really good.

This is a great idea. I treated myself to a pedicure last week - never had one before! But good idea to time something around AF. I have a bit of anxiety around planning stuff. We may go to London in November for the weekend with friends, anytime I think about doing things like this though, I'm hesitant to book as I may be trying to hide a pregnancy. It really messes with me!! Think I just need to focus on it being for us two alone or I just end up dragging my feet with making plans and worrying too much about it!!

EvelineUK · 26/09/2019 10:20

We booked in for couples massage at least once a month and went swimming together etc. It's an absolute must to make as much effort to switch off from it all as it is to actively chase conception.

ReeRi · 26/09/2019 13:45

I have never had a pedicure @BewilderedBee

I love a massage @EvelineUK but think I’d prefer them on my own 😂
