Clomid confusion

West2401 · 24/09/2019 18:57

Hi all,
So I'm really confused. I've been TTC for over a year, had various tests as well as keyhole and found I just don't ovulate.
I was given progesterone to induce a period and started clomid on day 2. This finished 2 weeks ago.
Today I'm experiencing sore breasts, nausea and slight cramping and had some bleeding, but surely I should be nowhere near a period? I'm really confused as I was just hours out of surgery when clomid was prescribed so don't feel like I understand the cycle.
Does this mean I'm ovulating or getting a period? Is this normal? Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks so much! xxx

Did you wait until you bled before taking Clomid?

You should take Clomid on CD2 for 5 days.

Ultimately wait until you have a proper bleed before taking it

I get nausea as an ovulation symptom. It may get mean you've ovulated. Are they not tracking this cycle with scans and/or bloods?

AgathaCroosty · 24/09/2019 21:17

If you did take the Clomid on cd2 I would say that what your experiencing is ovulation.

West2401 · 24/09/2019 22:14

@AgathaCroosty @physicskate I took it on day 2 for 5 days.
Thank you, I'm just so confused. I've got a day 21 blood test on Thursday but then have to wait another 3 weeks to go back to the consultant, it's all so frustrating! xxx

Good that your having the bloods done. That'll tell you if you have ovulated or not, but given your symptoms 2 weeks in, sounds like it's working.

West2401 · 25/09/2019 21:59

Thanks @AgathaCroosty I'm hoping so, although I did a home ovulation test (I know stupid and inaccurate but I was anxious) and it came out negative.
Still spotting and crampy Confused

If you've got problems with fertility ovulation tests can be pretty crap & give out false negatives etc.

For me, I get the cramps & pains immediately after I've ovulated..

West2401 · 26/09/2019 05:49

Fingers crossed it's working, just have to wait and see I guess. Haven't had a natural cycle in over a year thanks to my insanely low progesterone so all these hormones are just sending everything into overdrive I think haha! Thanks for the advice, I'm just being a silly worrier!

Well it definitely sounds like it's working. Clomid tricks the brain & hypothalamus into thinking that it's not produced any hormones. So your body just produces more and more

West2401 · 26/09/2019 15:35

You're like a fountain of knowledge! Fingers crossed. I'm a fitness instructor and it seems like every day when I exercise it gets heavier then eases when I'm not doing anything, I'm hoping it stops in the next day or two. It's so confusing trying to figure it out and frustrating having all these hormones floating around Confused

@AgathaCroosty Is it normal to go on for 5 days!? It's starting to get heavier - I'll have nothing then a lot then nothing again. Really starting to panic 😔

One of the main side effects is bleeding inbetween cycles. I wouldn't worry too much, but perhaps mention it when you next see your Dr.

Hi ladies.

Wondering if anyone could help me

I am on my first cycle of Clomid 2-6 protocol. Finished last pill last night. When am I most likely to ovulate? I have pcos, i have also been taking Metformin since last July on 1000mg but gyno recently increased to 1500mg. I ovulate but irregularly. Haven't ovulated since May. So hoping Clomid does the trick. I have on average 33/36 day cycles, so would I likely ovulate around day 20-24? So I need to be dtd from CD 19? I wasn't aware that Clomid made you ovulate when you normally would in a natural cycle as every where I've read on google says that most women will ovulate 5-7 days after taking last Clomid pill! It's lucky I messaged a friend who fell pregnant with her DD on her 4th Clomid round that she clues me up! I have ordered a basal thermometer & have got ovulation tests ready waiting Smile

AgathaCroosty · 29/09/2019 13:06

It says in research that you should DTD from 5 days following the last pill & every other day for a week. However that's only calculated for someone who has regular cycles.

With you having PCOS, there's no gaurentee that it'll work, I hope your having CD21 bloods.

Research also states that you could ovulate as little as 5 to 12 days after the last pill

CharlotteCx · 29/09/2019 14:55

I come off my period yesterday and we dtd last night and will continue to do so every other day until the end of my expected fertile week which will be the 16th October.

Yes I am having day 21 bloods also day 28 too cos I have longer cycles (33/36) sometimes day 21 is too early.

My ovarie area feels really tender since yesterday - not at all hurting but feels like really tight and my back aches a little. Hope this is a good sign? I didn't have any side effects from the clomid accept hot flushes twice in the night but that is it. Hoping it makes me ovulate and we catch on the first cycle 🤞🏻
