Can you get a negative test when pregnant? If you can what makes this happen and how likely is it?

You can get a false negative if you are in the Early stages of pregnancy as it can take longer for HCG to built up to detectable levels in some people. However, I'd say that if it's been more than 5 weeks since your last period and you are still getting negative results then it's unlikely.

That said, some people have their pregnancy confirmed by blood test as HPTs don't pick the hormone up in their urine so it's not impossible x
