Ovulation tests

Ttc baby number 1. I tested at midday yesterday with clearblue digital and got a solid smiley indicating peak fertility. Did a standard ovulation test this morning and it was completely negative. Does that mean the clearblue was faulty or that ovulation has already occurred? Sorry for coming across clueless! ConfusedGrin

@Loula82 when I was TTC I was using the cheap OPK's for a few months and the closest I got to a positive was always around CD14 but the month I used the CB kit I got my static smiley on CD10 and fell pregnant that cycle. The CB tests for 2 different hormones and are much more reliable than the cheap sticks in my opinion. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your help. Fingers crossed I get my bfp soon. We dtd yesterday morning and last night. Hope that wasn't too late. It's all so confusing. Confused

@Loula82 did you manage to DTD in the run up to ovulation too?

Loula82 · 20/09/2019 10:14

@Makingawish only on Sunday night and Monday morning as he was away for a couple of days. That's why I'm worried! Is it important to dtd in the run up to a positive ovulation test too?

@Loula82 not vital but it does increase your chances because sperm can stay inside you for about 3-5 days so if you missed ovulation exactly then the egg already has sperm there ready to meet so to speak. Have a look at SMEP (Sperm Meets Egg Plan) and that explains optimum time for DTD depending on when you ovulate. The first time we followed it to the letter, I fell pregnant.

Does it matter what time of day you test with clearblue? I been testing since day 14 and can't get a positive

sigmaalphamu · 21/09/2019 07:59

Clear blue says you should test once a day after your longest sleep. So basically for lost people that would be with FMU

It may well be that you did ovulate and the surge had gone by the time you did the internet cheapie the following day, but I did have a false positive with a Clearblue test the month I conceived my first. I got a static smiley very early in the month (I usually have very long cycles) but had no EWCM or other ovulation signs. Internet cheapie negative.

I then got a positive on internet cheapie a couple of weeks later, and dating scan confirmed I had ovulated/conceived on the later date.

Did you have any other signs which would suggest you ovulated?
