Spotting for days before period

Hi everyone,

My husband have been TTC since around April. My last 3 periods I have spotted for honestly above 5 days before I get a full flow. This spotting is only noticeable when I wipe, no other time. It’s so frustrating because obviously I secretly hope it’s implantation but it never is. It also makes it tricky to determine the first day of my period. I’m being tested for PCOS because of a range of other symptoms so I wonder if the spotting is due to this and my hormones not dropping effectively.

So my question is does anyone else experience this? And if so, do you count the first day of your period when you’re spotting or wait for the full flow?

I always get full on spotting (not only when I wipe) before AF. Last week it was 5 days before but usually about 3 days. From reading on here it is fairly common so I wouldn't worry too much. It is caused by a drop in progesterone I think, so it depends how long it is from ovulation to when you start spotting as this is your lutuel phase and if it's not long enough it could cause an issue with implantation. AF should always be from when you get bright red blood so this should count as your CD1.
Hope that helps, try not to worry too much, have you seen a dr about it at all?
